First overclock - how have I done so far?

thanks again stev for the reply! yes, the sata HD is the only HD on the system. But that's weird! XP had no problem when I was installing it, now for some reason it can't see it. BUT, I upped the vcore from 1.525 (or whatever the default is) to 1.55 and it just booted up! I have a feeling...

Ok, another problem. And I tried to search around for this but couldn't find anything specifically to what's wrong w/my comp. I recently bought a seagate barracuda 250gb HD. I plugged it in correctly, turned on my comp, installed windows and then it wouldn't boot windows, I'd get the blue...

ok, so I already had some other stuff installed on that HD I was trying to use so I formatted it. plugged everything back together, used a stick of corsair ram AND IT WORKS! It was the ram, for some reason, it didn't like the Mushkin stick I had bought for it... which sux cuz I think there's a...

so I took out the stick of mushkin and stuck in a stick of corsair value select ram.. AND IT BOOTED!!! YaY!!! BUT, it freezes when it's detecting the drives. I just have the nec burner and WD HD plugged into the ide channels... any suggestions? Maybe the HD is messed up, but I dont think...

well I went to epox.com to see if I can get some more info on the post codes, but I couldn't find anything. I d/ld the user manual and their is more info than there is in the manual that came w/the mobo. I guess you are right, I don't think it likes the memory. In the manual it says the error...

sigh, that didn't work either. well, thanks guyz, i thank you all for the input. i think i'm just going to call the cpu dead. i'm just gonna go out and get a new cpu / mobo, why motherboard? well, just for shitz and giggles =).

Man...i think the cpu is fried...when i turn on the comp now, it makes those 2 beeping noises, then the screen shows "your comp was turned off cuz of thermal shutdown" or something like that. and then i hit F4 to continue, it shows the Windows XP w/the bars at the bottom, then it tried to go to...

sorry. i took off the thermal pad that was on the heatsink and i used arctic silver 5. i cleaned BOTH the cpu and the heatsink before applying the as5. i used that 99% rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

P4 2.6C Overheating

Well, now the computer won't turn on. Ran prime for about 12 hours, no error, nothing. Turned it off, about 1 hour later turned it on, but just made the beeping noise, as if it was going to go to the screen where it says "your comp was turned off from thermal shutdown or something like that"...

Sup guyz, yes it's me with yet another problem. My bro's comp doesn't have ANYTHING overclocked, he's running everything stock, yet for some reason his cpu is unusually hot at idle. At idle, it's 48-50C. It's done a thermal shutdown like 2 times cuz the cpu got too hot or something. This is...
