Do keep us posted on the reliability of the JMS583-based Icybox.
On a side note, I went ahead and ordered a Ugreen NVME enclosure. Not 100% sure which controller I'll be getting, but there's a good chance that it could be a JMS583.
Hmm, my RTL 9210 SSK HE-C370 acted up and corrupted my work drive (Kioxia 512GB).
At one point of time, drive activity was pegged at 100% when loading photos. The same drive, when plugged into a RTL 9210B-equipped Asus TUF A1, loaded the photos just fine.
Guess it's time for yet another NVME...
Barely a day after these symptoms presented itself, the Kioxia drive nuked itself, rendering all my files unrecoverable.
It seems fine after formatting, but I wont be trusting that drive with anything important
This is a mild annoyance, as my Realtek-based Asus occasionally gives me the 100% activity time issue. Not sure if it's sufficient grounds for a warranty claim?
Edit: The drive in question is a Toshiba 512 GB 2242 drive. Power-on time is roughly 10 days, meaning it's a relatively new drive...
Surprised to see the Orico holding up even after 2 years. Which PCB revision do you have?
And judging from the Philips screw, I am guessing it's the older model? Both of mine (original and RMA unit) have a torx head.
Seeing that my SSK NVME enclosure has been limping for the past few weeks, I just ordered my second most expensive enclosure.
Say hello to the Asus TUF Gaming A1 (https://www.asus.com/my/motherboards-components/data-storage/asus-product/tuf-gaming-a1/)
Compared to the Strix Arion Lite and its...
Hmm, haven't gotten around to test for that long.
Less than 2 months in, my SSK has developed intermittent disconnection issues. Earlier it was a full 100% disk usage (as seen in Task Manager), and more recently it was throwing "USB device not recognized" errors.
Quite disappointing, to be...
Here's some benchmarks
Strix Arion Lite + WD SN850 1TB
SSK HE-C370 + WD SN850 1TB
The SSK feels pretty alright, given its price point. Unlike the Arion Lite that uses an ASMedia chip, the SSK has a Realtek RTL9210B, with a unique 1.26.5 firmware.
