You send an e-mail to Chris in the Dell forums, see the Dell forums for details. Then they send you an replacement and you mail the old one back in the box you recieved the new monitor in. So you won't be without a monitor. As for the dead pixel issue I have not noticed that on the two I have had.
Recieved my replacement today through DHL and hooked it up next to my existing monitor. There is no banding evident in Desktop Mode, the difference is actually very notable when runing gradlin-v0.2-fs and having the two monitors next to eachother. There is still banding in the other two modes...
Yeah they are from HL2 Episode 1. I am not sure if the banding in the pictures are due to banding or just the fog engine being crappy :) Have someone tried that on another screen?
Since I have a revision A00 there is really no point, but I figured what the heck :)
Horrible picture, but if you look closely you can see the darker lines where there are not supposed to be any

And some pictures from HL2...
What the heck, just read the blog you posted MaceX. "While it's possible to do a firmware upgrade on the existing monitors, Dell instead plans to simply replace the monitors of unhappy customers." If this is true this is truely annoying, curse on you Dell :)
I am glad that it worked out for you, and it seems like the update is actually working. It also seems promising that you got a S-IPS screen. That is the only thing I have any objections too, since I don't want a PVA one.
So the fix is finally here :) Since I do not experience the text bluring, only color banding which mostly occurs when watching dark movies or grey screens in games, I will simply wait and see if this fix will deal with this. I am very skeptic about trading for a PVA screen and will only do so if...
Well apparently Dell finally realized something is wrong and have worked out a firmware upgrade that is supposed to take care of this. Whether this is true or not waits to be seen, but according to Chris at Dell's forums more information should be available on Friday this week. So let's keep our...
You gotta love that Dell Support, claims to be award winning, makes you wonder where though :) The best way of dealing with them is to keep on calling until you get someone who is either higher up or know what he/she is talking about. Usually takes a few tries. Doesn't help either that Dell is...
Says Mexico, April 2006. Thought it was wierd that it was S-IPS, since I got the computer this week. They must have been trying to get rid of their S-IPS screens :)
Was unaware about this problem and got the 2007fp with my new desktop. So far I have noticed a little banding, but nothing really serious. Didn't pay anything for the LCD so I don't feel to bad about it. Also seemed to have lucked out since I got the S-IPS instead of the S-PVA. If you are...
