Who bought/is buying a Radeon RX 480?

I waited week after week for the 'release' of custom cooled 480s assuming that once they made it then pricing would reflect the $199/$239 msrp I'd been hoping for. I didn't realize the only cards we'll ever see at that price are the ref cards with, imo, bottom binned gpus, warm n loud coolers...

Geforce GTX 1060 Thread: faster than RX 480, 120W, $249

Read somewhere that they went with the X (short for '10) because they are changing things up vs the R5, R7, R9 system. We'll see where it goes when they launch Vega I guess.

Toshiba Buys OCZ SSD Assets

With Tosh backing them, Ocz now joins the ranks of ssd makers with their own nand and controller fabs...i.e. Intel, Samsung, Micron, and SanDisk to name a few. This means they can compete price wise like never before. Nothing but good things to come for Ocz/Tosh imo.

Testing Power Loss Scenarios on SSDs: Does any review site actually do this?

This is a little OT but thought I'd mention the Crucial's M500 enthusiast SSD's have caps for power protection. This is the only consumer grade ssd I know of to offer power protection. I'm currently waiting for a M500 1TB (960GB) that I won from ssd review to arrive. I may try yanking the power...

SSDs...

Yup...all they are is a little circuit board with a few chips that make hdds look like ancient technology. I've seen an SSD shipped in just a 6x8 padded envelope (an anti-static bag ofc) with only 2 postage stamps needed. To this day I can't understand why all retailers don't offer them with...

Why are external HDs still cheaper than internal ?

I've always resisted pre-built externals for fear of low quality drives being used. I always build my own that way I have more control over quality and performance. My main enclosures run a pair of WD Blacks...since they are 7200 rpm drives, I opted for fan cooled enclosures. Most all pre-built...

Who else is in the 1TB+ SSD Club?

2 decent 120/128s in sata raid0 6.0 is all most will ever need. I like Samsung 840 Pros or 2 2x Ocz vectors. As good as it gets til SF launches the SF-3000s

Who else is in the 1TB+ SSD Club?

I've been an ssd nut ever since the 1st gen. I'm nearly there...so far I got 2x Intel 520 120GB 1 Ocz Vertex 4 128GB 4x60GB Vertex 2's in raid and my old faithfull first SSD...60GB Ocz Apex Waiting for the next gen sata express or m.2 b4 I buy more.

There is a way to 'manually' trim an ssd with XP but it's not very convenient. First use PerfectDisk (or another decent defragger) and do a 'consolidate free space' run after that u can use an app that fills the rest of the drive with a file of nothing but zero's then deletes the...

No longer recognizes my DVD-RAM drive.

First suggestion would be the check and/or replace the data and/or power cable before digging too deep or spending money. ;)

Need advice on a PC GAMING BUILD

If 'future-proofing' is at the top of your list, that means you'll have to spend more on the initial layout. Doing your homework on the components that don't really need future proofing is a MUST in this case...future proofing is high on my list as well. Every time I upgrade, due to budget...
