Case Mod, need intake in the front.

Personally, I'd take a 4 1/2" hole saw to the front to completely open it up for the 120mm fan. I'd then put a filter of your choice (I don't use any as I clean out my system once a month anyway) on there.

C2D - Which HSF?

A good hole saw is rather expensive $30-40, but I find it better than using a dremel tool to make circular cuts. The 4-1/2" is the best for 120mm fans since you'll have to grind down the edges to make sure they aren't sharp, which will take it down a decent bit as well. Hole Saw example...

You can give it a try. Another thing you can do, if you don't mind modding your case a bit, is getting a 4-1/2" Hole Saw and putting a hole right over top of the CPU. Doing this with the typhoon, you might not even need to put a 120mm fan in the hole, just throw a fan guard over the hole. And...

Two silent 120mm fans, what are the best ones out there?

No. Thermaltake uses deaf people to rate their fan noise. Whatever they say their db is, I double it.

Scythe Infinity a good choice for the E6600?

The weight shouldn't be a problem at all unless you move your case around a lot. If you're worried about it, you could always get sturdy wires from a hardware store to have it held do the top of the case.

Just took a pound of dust out of the PC, and reapplied some pasty goodness...

I didn't like the fan filters that most places sell. I ended up using, of all things, pantyhose on my old PC. They were less restrictive to the airflow and were actually better at containing the dust. The only down side is that they stretch out easily so you can't really take them off and put...

Troubleshooting BAD Temp on C2D e6400

When you reseat the HSF, check the contact on it. You'll see by how much of the thermal paste is disrupted. If it doesn't seem to be getting enough contact and you're postive its seated right, you'll have to lap the HS to try to make it flat for better contact.
