New System...random lockups...frustrated

Well, NOW I know it's not the hard drive. I plugged in a new barracuda and it locked up during Win2k installation. It's gotta be the motherboad...it's just gotta be. Motherboard should be here this afternoon. This thread is making me feel a little schizophrenic. How about someone at least...

OK...this just gets weirder. The system will hard lock or the screen will simply go black within one to ten minutes of normal use. I say "normal" because the damn thing will run rock solid for hours running torture tests, loops of Quake, etc. However, you can stop the torture test and open...

Newegg rules

I needed an ATA66 IDE cable in a pinch at work and ran to a CompUSA up the street. I didn't pay attention to the price when I grabbed package in the isle. At the register, it rang up at over $20 with tax. I almost fainted. LOL...$20 bucks for an IDE cable.

DVD-Drive won't read DVDs

Great...same problems under Windows 2000. Of the ten DVDs I've tried, it will only recognize one and it skips badly on that one. The manufacturer assures me there are no other similar reports, so I guess I'll RMA it and see if a replacement is any better.

Should I upgrade my trusty ISA AWE64?
