Exam A, Q33 is also wrong. The question clearly mentions APPEND text to a column while the answer B is clearly not appending anything. For that, we should use the .WRITE function with the offset parameter set to NULL.

I can' t see a right answer in that question. Should the answer A present an ORDER BY clause, I'd choose it as the right one. :-/

Exam A - Q12: The inline TVF is querying the view presented in the code. But nowhere in the requirements it states that the function should query the view and not the table Orders. I thought the purpose of the proposed function was to replace the view?

Does anyone confirm that answer is right in the test?

@greg: I agree with the requirements you mention. That's whay I say it should be UNION ALL. In fact, UNION ALL should be always be considered first since it's the fastest union.

UNION will have SQL Server spend resources removing duplicates and since there aren't any, it's useless in the situation. Just my two cents.

in scenario it is clearly mentioned "None of the rows in Div1cust exist in Div2Cust"

so UNION ALL is not required while merging results.

Exam D - Q20: There is a mistype for the answer H.
The right command is DENY <permission> TO <user> and not DENY <permission> FROM <user>.

Exam C - Q44 seems wrong as well:
The requirement states "Duplicates must be retained" so we should use UNION ALL.

Hi, a short question. When I start the test I can choose between 4 Exams(ABCD). Is it correct that you get in the real test exactly 1 of these 4 exams(with the questions) or do you get a any custom exam with questions from the complete pool?

There were two LIST AND ORDER questions with parts of code by one in each part. I only moved them in correct order. No more, but once code parts were in 5 items nut no in 6 ones like in the dump.

I m stuck with this piece of s.t. Failed it twice. The problem lies in the first part with all this programming. Every fucking option looks exactly like the previous or next one. Esp the first 25 questions (70-461). I passed the second the 70-642 with 8xx but still they give the lowest grade so i fail.
Any pointers?

However MS has added new questions, so only about 85% of the exam came from it.

Some were new questions and some were existing questions with slightly modified answers. So make sure you don't just simply remember the answers and you should know the material as well!

Good thing is that there was absolutely no free text, code typing of any sort for my one.

another tip dont come on here after taking the exam and tell us your score/day you took the exam (Im looking at you J_D_DBA from Colombia). it would be easy to cross reference your scores,date and location to find out who you are and cancel your pass. Just saying be careful.

Valid, I passed the exam sometime in March scoring over 90% in both sections but bear in mind simply memorizing the answer in this dump wont get you a pass, you need to understand why the answers are correct as a lot of the questions although similar to whats contained in the dump are not exactly the same. A few other points some of the answers here are wrong for instance update .write the parameter should be NULL not 0. There were no free text questions. Some of the questions are grouped together and contain the wording "this question is part of a series of similar of similar questions each of which is slightly different and might or might not have different answers". eg questions 10,11,12 and 13 describe similar scenarios and ask you what back up type is most appropriate in each scenario or what type of replication/mirroring is suitable. Best tips I can give you, use this as a guide and most importantly understand why the answer is correct and read the questions carefully eg dont mix up < with >, pay attention to which is primary/secondary server etc, good luck

Q32: Question about the BlogEntry is correct, the question says : Append specific string to the Summary column" and not append a record to the table if you append a string to the column you are updating the column, I think this is more English interpretation than SQL.

@Bob - The page restore is not possible on the reporting DB, as it's in Simple mode. Hence the combo of Full/Diff.

Talks about having 3 corrupt pages, and how to restore.

Suggested answer is restore a full backup and a diff - no t-log backups - how is that the right answer?

Surely if you need to restore with minimal data loss, you want to restore the t-logs along with full/diff?

I'm assuming that the questions with only two options, are questions that you have to type in the queries yourself, am I right?

The answer on the BlogEntry table is wrong. The answer marked as correct (and verified) does not do as the question asks for (which is appending to the Summary column). Instead, it replaces the Summary column.

Answer C is correct, though.

Regarding question 23, the answer will not compute. Instead it will throw an error:

Cannot schema bind view 'Sales.uv_CustomerFullName' because name 'Customers' is invalid for schema binding. Names must be in two-part format and an object cannot reference itself.

This would compile, though:

How exactly does the query part of the exam work? Is there an actual parser available, or would you really have to type up code in one go without being able to verify it?
