Windows 2008 is much easier as long as you are giving the users and groups in question read access to all event logs. If that is the case just add them to the Built in Event Log Readers group.

However if you do not want to give access to ALL event logs you still have to resort to using SDDL

The location on the SDDL has changed in Windows 2008 and is no longer set it via the CustomSD in the registry. You now have to use the wevtutil utility.

For Example

If you need to define access to just the System event log on our Windows 2008 Server.

1. open the command prompt, and run the following command to dump out the SDDL for the System log out to a txt file.

wevtutil gl system > C: empout.txt

Thanks Allah Passed Yesterday With 828 Studied 0x000.326q + Anonymous Point And Shot Question (Task Scheduler) came In The Exam and there was New question about third-party server Secure POP3 Port Number and it was about 10 to 15 new question and you need good background for what you are doing and read question many time to get the best choice

Hi - For Exam K Q20:
Svr1 has RRAS, Static RRAS filters only allow PPTP i/c.
You install IIS on Svr1.
Question asks for minimum open ports to configure on Svr1 to allow HTTP access.
Given answers are:
1. The inbound connection to Svr1 TCP port 80 = ok
2. An outbound connection from Svr1 TCP(established) on Port 80 =?
The incoming connection is going to provide a random and not well know source port isn't it?
Plus RRAS filters are not stateful.
There is another answer which defines an outbound connection from Svr1 TCP on Port= any. is this not the correct option?

Also:

Doesn't Windows firewall allow outbound traffic by default?
So why isnt the answer=1 rule? (the inbound program rule on port 3433 for App1)

one was about wsus how would you configure wsus on 2nd to have the same updates as as 1st server. another one u have to know what port pop3 uses.

Only one i remember is it asking about what ports need to be open on a firewall for POP3.
