I failed on Thursday. Get to know powershell. I'd say 75% of questions I recognized. They ad a lot of new format questions. For example, there was an option to choose answers A-F instead of A-D. They also had a few new drag and drop questions, like put the sequence in order or steps in order of how to perform. In all, I did use this dump to help study and understand where my weak points were and where I need to study more.

I took the exam the other day, it's got 50q and I found these revision questions helpful, however I would only use these as a method of understanding what the syllabus actually is. Got 850.

Lol, half the battle is understanding exactly what they want (straining brain over grammar happens too often) and avoiding the 'red herring' information in the question.

I do know how you feel Steve. There are MANY 'solutions' I could sit down and complete the task at work without even thinking, but selecting the right answer .. another matter all together. Sometimes I say to myself "well there's 3 ways I could accomplish that, and none of them are listed lol"

Seriously, that is why these exams here are good. It kinda gets you inside the head of the jackass who wrote the MS tests lol

I've been doing sys admin / server work for about 4 years. I can configure, troubleshoot and deploy servers without issue. Some of these MS questions and situations are head scratchers. Sometimes I take the exam on my tablet, then the next day go back and study the videos of items I missed and try to understand. I have created vm of the 3 servers to test configurations out but still find myself struggling on some of the questions.

Nada &Mr: I really like your approaches guys.I have been doing just that -for me I have been using CBT nuggets + Ms_press book +Cert Guide from Don Poulton. I have done a lot of labs on Vm's at work. As for the Microsoft exams ,I have never been disappointed.So i end up just confirming the answers we get here.I think basically that's what we should be doing here,not just cramming and passing..provided you have the time.

Aced 3 areas. Objects and the Infrastructure had all my mistakes, except one DNS question.

Time for 42/46. Think combined they are about the same amount of material as 640 lol

All the best on the exam tomorrow! Having 4 years of admin experience in W2K8 is great, I am still stuck in a W2K3 environment. I tried the Train Signal videos for the CCNA and like you was very disappointed. I actually preferred the CBT Nuggets videos but, again those alone will not do especially if you are not immersed in the environment on a daily basis.

I know what you mean. I did 3 different self-study courses for my Sec+ in November. Each one taught me something the other's didn't. Train signal was too much 'surface knowledge' and never dug deep enough to be worthwhile.

Same goes here. Did ITFreeTraining, 2nd ED MS Self Training Kit, and this prep. Also been a sys admin in '08 for 4 years lol. Pretty well all my work was in AD, yet I didn't learn even 20% of what I would need to pass this..

Quick question, do I need to memorize all the CMD (Server Core configuration) and PowerShell commands to pass exam? Or is it enough to know what command does? I have never taken any exams for Microsoft, it is first time.

When you say you "keep getting wrong answers" what exactly do you mean? Do you think that the answers on the test here are incorrect or are you choosing the wrong answers when taking the test from the file here?
Can you provide an example?
Additionally, I doubt that using one source for exam preparation such as CBT Nuggets in conjunction to the test here would be enough to pass the test without hands-on an another reference source. I too, am preparing for the test in hopes of taking it by mid-February. I am using the Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-640): Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory (Self-Paced Training Kits) second edition and while it has helped I still have half of the boot to go. Additionally I am using videos such as the ITFreeTraining for 70-640 on YouTube, a lot of Internet searching to confirm certain topics and I have configures a lab using VirtualBox and evaluation 2008 R2 software.
Relying on the book alone for me would guarantee a fail especially since I work in an environment that is primarily 2003. Even if my environment was 2008 R2 I would not be exposed to many of the exam topics such as CA, AD RMS, AD FS, AD LDS etc.
My advice is to do your best to know why the answers are what they are but do not always accept that they are correct. Research the answers and when all else fails post here.

Question, I've studied CBT nuggets and have taken this practice exam but keep getting wrong answers. Should I just memorize correct answer because I feel like I will never pass. Are these suppose to be the exact questions and answers on the test or at least 85% of them?

No Catherine, the number of cuestions it´s same (468). There are more exam but with 25q.

So this has less questions? And focuses more on the questions expected in the exam?

This dump is based on Venomous (thk) but the questions are reorganizations on type and more exams. The exams are now 25q, more easy for people with little time free.
