From left to right

Sally. We got her off Craigslist during the pandemic when it was impossible to get a dog for some reason. We got her from someone in the middle of Los Angeles and it is easy to say we both won the dog lottery. She is my dog and if I have a lap she is in it. She is also too nice. When we come home the dogs are happy to see us and she just stays in the background waiting her turn. She also stays in the background when we are handing out treats.

Tina. We got her two weeks ago from the Downey shelter. She came in as a stray and someone adopted her and then returned her after 3 days. She was growling at their kids. Since she was a stray she was pretty feral and did not really like people. We knew that we could rehabilitate her (we have done it before). She has been watching our dogs and learning how to be a house dog and has come an incredibly long way. Now she loves to see us, wags her tail and actually comes up to us. However if we try to pet her she runs away. Another week or two and she will be there.

Mary. Mary got her name because on the first day we were fostering her she was in the backyard and my wife was trying to get her inside. Instead of letting my wife get her she decided to turn and jump in the pool. So we said she took a "Hail Mary" into the pool. She has turned into the play dog. Both Tina and Sally like to run and play with her.

Now we come to Louie. I am actually not sure what his name is. I though it was starting as Luigi, then we called him Louie. Then my daughter started calling him Weeg. Whatever his name he is the old man of the group at 13. His goal each day is to either lay in the sun or to get under a blanket. He also wants nothing to do at all with any of the other dogs. We have a ramp for him on one sofa so he can get up there and also a ramp so he can get on our bed. Sally has started to slide down the ramp and itch her belly.

Let's see what you got.

My clan is rather small these days. Samantha, our lab/Weimaraner mix, and couple odd cats. All are rescues.

First, Samantha and her “owner”, Mommie Kitty.

And those two with Kaylee, our third kitty. Kaylee is the calico curled up in front.

“I ownz da bed…”

Guard duty…

Plus the bonus cats:

A neighbor's abandoned cat followed my wife into the house and dropped five kittens in our living room. We have found homes for three of them. We're working on homes for these two. they're nine weeks old. Mama goes in for a pre-spay checkup this week.

Children's liquid Benadryl is a wonderful things for bee eaters.
Yep! We had a dog that was allergic to something and was always being bit. It happened enough that we would just say, Tasha has puffy face again, get the benadryl. Although we found some generic benadryl at Costco that is really cheap per pill.

Funny what you said about Moose following you. For some reason when Mary follows me she licks my calf. Sally is learning that now too so when I walk around I am just used to having a dog nose touch my leg.

I forgot about Spot(in pic) and Blackie(not shown). They aren't exactly /my/ cats, but they spend a lot of time here, especially Spot. They were both catch/releases. Blackie's completely feral, but Spot's friendly, and particularly likes me. If she knows I'm outside, she comes over meowing the whole way. I feed them in the morning and provide water. I also have a shelter setup for winter. I just fed my kittiots, and she was sitting out back making me feel guilty. Policy is morning feed only. I want to keep her motivation for hunting up. She's a very good hunter, but sometimes gets stuff I don't want her to get.

This is an old good picture of the pack, when Kate could still see.
From front to back, Kate the chihuahua crossed with the devil
Cricket the runt of a silken wind hound, roomie's dog.
Russer is a jack. Jacks are gonna jack.

Cricket was so timid she about crapped herself when our two played.
Katie recognized the situation and slowly taught her how to growl and play properly. It took a while.
Now they are all gray and old, and Russer walks like an AT-AT in fast motion half the time. He just stumps around.
A more recent picture of faded
dogs helping my brother nap. They might be friends.

5 weeks ago somebody dumped this little guy out on the road and he spent all night barking outside our window, desperate to join our pack. He ran away from us but I kibbled him in and we got him into shape. Fleas, UTI, still had his nuts. We took care of all that

he is food aggressive and also growls at our other dogs trying to get near us, but we are teaching him pack manners.

If the other dog is up already he is good.
