We need some Pols to make some big dick moves and lock down standards and regs around charging and what have you.
As a non-EV owner who is sort of peripherally aware of the whole EV thing listening to people talk about the planning that goes into finding a compatible charging place or whatever is a bit eye roll worthy.
CCS and NACS are already the standard in North America. As far as charging infrastructure and planning trips are concerned the only advice I can give is don't let automotive youtubers and automotive journalists sensationalize the narrative for you. They do it for the clicks.
I recently completed a 1,000 mile(1,600km)round trip from Peoria IL to Cleveland OH and hands down it was one of the most enjoyable road trips I have ever taken.
Did it take a little longer because EVs take longer to "fill up"? Yes it did.
Did I have to take a few extra steps to plan my route because the infrastructure is still in its infancy? Yes I did. By this I mean I added my destination into the vehicles navigation and it planned the route for me with charging stops added. This took around 60 seconds to do.
Did I have any issues with broken or non functioning chargers like the automotive press likes to sensationalize? No I did not.
