Sounds like someone's placing too much value on 'rock on table'.Geologists can cause some damage. Geoengineering, blasting, boring, feasibility studies...A project could have hundreds of millions on the line based on their skill.
That...seems like a really bad precedent to set. As one of them said in the article, predicting earthquakes is a crapshoot. It's not like they intentionally covered up a potential quake coming.
