That's Korea.Uh...from the source @mikk linked:
He's coping.Strix coming in 2025 directly contradict what Lisa said in the earnings call. So I'd argue it was just a generic statement from AMD Korea.
> We expect Client to be up sequentially
> Increase in units and asp due to AI PC
> AI PC coming with Strix for premium devices in second half
> AI PC across the rest of the stack/portfolio in 2025
But Computex is just a month away. Everything will be clear there.
Yeah, euros and China how Hawk first too.i would thik that China, the US and some european countries like Germany will get the first deliveries well before secondary markets.
That's a non-binding statement and it's not end of the year.
August select laptops, rest a bit later.
More on June 3rd. Cheers.
Now please go back to MTL thread, you only have so much time left.
Paper launch by the end of H2-2024. That's what it means.AI PC coming with Strix for premium devices in second half
Why are you coping? It's not June 3rd. Just yet.Paper launch by the end of H2-2024. That's what it means.
Hawk is everywhere, even in $600 ideapad 5's.Their track record speaks for itself.

Why the cope? It'a paper launch this year, AMD never confirmed they will hard launch Strix Point this year. It's telling they just say H2 because it usually means Q4. And you can add 3-6 months from a launch until real volume is available from AMD. Shipping in 2024 including paper launch, that's it. It's like you guys never learned from AMD, all of their new mobile generations were paper launched months before devices appeared in the market. Don't expect any different this time.
If that iGPU is clocking at 3.4GHz then the LLC is also faster so the effective bandwidth is higher.bandwidth (and MALL).
Called Zen5LP.
hello another b3d forums escapee.then the LLC is also faster so the effective bandwidth is higher.
Yeah but 16c Z5 is a pretty hungry hippo setup.256bit using LP5X at 8GT/s should have the same bandwidth as 128bit GDDR6 at 16GT/s, perhaps with somewhat lower latency.
Low intensity background stuff to gate CCDs off while doing so.What is is for?
It's a different RTL so ISA compatability is a very nominal notion here. The design can be horrifically gutted. If it's not exposed to the O.S., why use a large ISA-compatible Zen5 design?
Performance way too low, impacts QoS hard.If it's meant to sip power on low-level tasks, why not go with an ARM core or pick an old Cat core?

B3D ones are pretty chill too, just that the audience there is 98.3% NV shills (very rabid ones too) after everyone remotely related to gfx or technical side of things left.I just want to hijack this thread and complement the AT moderators as being the best moderators of any Tech forums out there.

which one eventhey locked the only interesting thread on the forum.
MLID is dubious, but at least he's consistent in his messaging here. In his MTL analysis video, he said his OEM "sources" were deeply disappointed and angry with Intel due to MTL and that some of them would look into higher level of AMD sourcing for their designs.MLID conclusion, taking a look at client revenue of AMD and Intel, is that AMD has a momentum in client, and with Zen 5 desktop and Strix arriving, Intel may be in big trouble, given the fact that client profits are carrying the whole company:
Both Strix and Kraken will come to DT. But I don't think it will be so fast. Probably something for mid to late 25.With Strix launching mid-year 2024, I am wondering about Strix Point APUs.
It seems that AMD has big ambitions in the commercial segment of PC, including desktop, where AMD is nearly completely absent. AMD has devoted disproportionate percentage of time in their investor CC to commercial market, and noted some successes with Phoenix.
It would seem logical that AMD would want to build on that momentum with Strix Point APUs for desktop. In AMD crosshair - commercial desktop.
Is CES 2025 realistic for Strix Point APUs? I don't recall any roadmap leaks about this...
Commercial is pretty much a laptop channel play, DT is a no-go.It seems that AMD has big ambitions in the commercial segment of PC, including desktop, where AMD is nearly completely absent.

Exactly, it's not far away. I'm sure receipts are being taken in this thread and I'm sure certain posters will be humble when they find out that, shock horror, a regional Korean employee speaking about a regional market might not have been fully representative of the situation around the globe.Strix coming in 2025 directly contradict what Lisa said in the earnings call. Yes but commercial desktop is a slower and more mature market than even commercial laptop.Lenovo just announced a desktop based on Phoenix based Radeon Pro 8000:
Lenovo's latest desktop PCs are AI-ready, and powered by the latest AMD chips
Lenovo steps into AI PC marketwww.techradar.com
We will see if the other 2 big ones (HP, Dell) follow suit. The incentive would be an easy upgrade to Strix Point, and these OEMs should be familiar with Strix Point performance...

Basically higher barrier to entry, the focus is laptops for now.
Well yeah but that's a cost structure problem, Intel is themselves to blame. There is the AI buzzword, and 70%-80% of Intel offerings for the next 2 years will be non-AI Raptor.
