Mario Kart: Double Dash question: What's your best time for Bowser's Castle?

I've played through this this a few times now, and my best time for three laps is 2:58:776 using a small car. I don't think I could do much better than that. Is that good, or can you do better if you're really good in a big car? What kinds of times have you guys gotten?

Use anything you want, including shortcuts. Edit: This is on Time Trials, so using toad and toadette wont help much.

I don't think taking shortcuts is fair, so I'm trying without for now.

I jsut got 3:06... hit a few thomps and walls.

2nd attempt: 3:00. I suck at powersliding.

3rd attempt: 2:58:070.

last attempt: 2:56:500

My best time so far is 2:55:500...I can post pics in a lil bit if anyone doesnt beleive me. I used Toad/Toadette in the Red Toad Kart. Best lap was 57:622

*Edit* Just got 2:55:338 and I hit two thwomps on the last lap!!! Grrr....

Where the bowser statue is shotoing fireball, theres a hole in the wall that lets you get to the other side without going around. I think you need a mushroom for it, and you gotta be careful not to go fly off the other side.

Man, I have no idea about my best speed. We always just play to beat each other up . Nothing like dodging shells while your wife fires back at your best friends. I love the GC...

I've tested it, and you don't actually need a mushroom for this, you just need to be going fast enough to make the jump. 150cc is best for it.

I haven't played Double Dash in nearly 20 years, I wonder if I still have my disc or if one of the kids made off with it when they moved out. I do still have the Gamecube.
