Question Windows freeze or USB function loss?

I leave my PC on 24/7, every 3-4 days now it will suddenly stop responding as if the USB no longer is picking up input. no BSOD ever occurs and windows system event log doesn't show anything suspicious to me other than TPM-WMI error 1796(secure boot failed to update). but this error occurs many times across several days before the freeze ever happens.

PC was put together in February, only the motherboard was new. CPU and GPU were bought 2nd hand and RAM was carryover from previous system.

BIOS and all drivers have been recently updated. RAM was memtest'ed stable at up to 2800 speed but I run it at 2666

I'm about at my wits end trying to diagnose this issue before just buying whole new parts.

when the machine boots after hard restarting the freeze. I get the windows sound of external device unplugging / replugging

I feel like it's not likely the RAM or GPU, GPU issues were always more clear, BSOD or hard freezes/crashes with ATI related error codes.

I dont know if it could be the CPU.

any suggestions?

Try a different port, there is about 20 of them. If it follows to other ports it could be the device and not anything more expensive.

thanks, I had run across some help articles like this for the event ID but didn't think it was the culprit

I went ahead and followed the advice in the article.
I also remembered reading that global C-staes can cause freezing so I disabled that as well.

now just have to wait and see if the issue returns

it's all devices plugged into USB ports, I even use an extra PCI-E USB 3.0 card and the devices on it freeze as well.
I thought it might be related to the AM4 usb bugs at first, but now I'm pretty sure it's not the same bug and just a system freeze

Well, then before going down the HW rabbit hole is use a bootable Linux USB and see if it persists. It could just be windows being obtuse

things seems to be stable(fixed) for the time being after properly sorting out the error id 1796
and following some advice to disable NX mode in BIOS
it's been about 2 days since I made these changes and no issues

I thought I might need to disable cool n quiet(PSS) and or global c-states but one stops single core max boosting and the other stops core down clocking at idle. both are enabled now with no problem so far

as a final followup

The system has been rock solid stable for several weeks now. I am not sure how much the disabling NX mode in BIOS affected it, but between that and the TPM-WMI error 1796 being addressed all it smooth sailing. I was even able to up my RAM to 2933 speed which would previously not even boot.
