What more to you people who constantly make excuses for Trump need to stop?

Still sticking to Biden is worse than a Nazi loving freak? Why isn’t the right made to own their anti-semitism and racism? College students are not the problem. Democrats don’t promote anti-semitism. It’s the people whose leader has as his greatest hits…

“Very fine people on both sides”
Reading Hitler speeches at his bedside
“Poisoning the blood of our country”

The party is no better with a group of them actively supporting white nationalists. Texas Republican Party had a vote to disassociate from white nationalists and that vote lost.

Are you sure about that part?

I'm beginning to see it. We Trump people, the MAGA folk are going to enter Valhalla when Trump wins. Think about the joy of victory, think about the glory, a nobody like me is finally really going to be a somebody at last. Hold that picture in your mind. Man am I ever going to get even with all you scum. Just believe and it will all come true. I'm going to be a winner.

I couldn't think of a more insecure individual than a racist white nationalist. So afraid, so sensitive, yet so arrogantly boorish and hawkish to cover all of that up. Sad.

are you doing that ignorant thing where people confuse anti-Israel policy with antisemitism? Are you that stupid?

anyway, this desperate response is hilarious when you are trying to deflect from your party literally advertising the return of Nazi Germany when you elect your dear orange leader.

Fuck off with your mewling noise.

If you dislike what Isreal is doing, you hate Jewish people.
If you didn't like America invading Iraq, you hated America.
Don't like what churches get up to, including kid-diddling priests? You hate God and all churches.

It's just typical childish good vs evil, bad guy vs good guy, with us or against us thinking.

Which is really weird with this Nazi stuff. Who ever says the Nazis are the good guys? Pretty bold move, cotton. I guess enough years have passed that now there will be an effort to soften what the Nazis did. They had good intentions! Sorta like forcing curriculums to cover the positive aspects of slavery (teaching life skills!).

Eh, I learned years ago that Trump supporters will just shrug off anything he says whether it bothers them or not. You can bet that all my Evangelical relatives would have gone into fits if Hillary or Biden had ever said "grab 'em by the pussy". But it's ok, it's just locker room talk that everyone engages in because their guy said it.

Sadly people just don't care enough in big numbers and they feel they're not under assault by Trump nazis. They feel as if Trump nazis is their bodyguard!

Wish we'd just do a national divorce and get it over with! Not like I care about the deep south. Fuck I won't even miss biscuits, gravy or cajun!

We're not going to have a "national divorce". We could sure have another civil war though.

I never thought I’d have a need for this gif when talking about an actual candidate for the US Presidency…but here we are…

I'm not sure how that'd work either.

Go anywhere in a blue state and leave the city area. I reckon it's just as redneck as where I am in FL, the land of people who vote for asshats like Desantis. My county went for Biden, we are all burbs. My neighbor around the block has flown an upside down flag since 2020 and has had a giant TRUMP batter displayed in his open garage since 2016. I could live in Mass or NY or MN etc and easily find a more red nest of rubes. That's what I get from friends who live in more enlightened states at least--and I do recall seeing a roof-covering confederate flag in upstate NY on a vacation.

You'd have battle lines across streets and hell even inside homes. I know my entire extended family and I would be on opposite sides.

But that was much different. Nowadays, even in “solid” red states, there are pockets of blue…or “purple” counties…same thing with “solid” blue states…mainly the difference between urban and rural areas.

Seems like they may be well-poised for it. The school my kids went to had a unit on the Holocaust, at least.

The geographic distribution of the factions is not likely to be a significant barrier to outright conflict should it happen. Just certain parties will have the upper hand depending on where they are.

Yeah I think the demarcations were just a wee bit wider in 1860... no instant communication on a vast web of connectivity to find like-minded people in other areas either.

Even "pockets" is way overstating it. Take any 5 houses in a row on my street in the burbs and there's an excellent chance those families would be on opposite sides in a war. My county as I said went for Biden but just barely, and it's pretty much entirely suburbs with a few rural areas....nothing you'd call "city". And as I said, there are people within households at opposite sides. How many kids live with their parents these days for financial reasons for example, or who rent rooms. My wife is a property manager and there are shit-tons of people just looking for rooms with multiple other people.

There's also a lot of people who might want to change where they live, but can't afford it. Or who are too busy trying to make ends meet to give a shit. I can't see how there would be any war. Maybe some state like TX squawks about seceding, but how does that work with all the businesses based elsewhere that have branches there and so on?

The outgoing president instigated an insurrection, an assault upon the legislature, and was fine with a mob potentially killing his vice president with the goal of staying in power after losing the election. People need to rethink the scope of what is possible.

The cycle is this. Mom and Dad survive a concentration camp and the kids create them. And the reason this happens is because nobody wants to know it.

As an aside, have you ever wondered how Christ dying on the cross could save us from our sins? Is there a not so obvious message in that. I think there is. But perhaps only truth seekers would be interested.

Ok, but none of that is a "Civil War" in the traditional shooting sense between masses of populations and involving armies. It was an attempted coup.

I personally think we are already in a Civil War, just not a shooting one. I don't really see how its ever going to end either. Just way too much misinformation out there that is way too easy to get, and not nearly enough desire by the public to search out facts--especially ones that might show beliefs and preconceptions to be mistaken. Rather than admit mistakes, people will find some other "facts" that say otherwise.

It'll be "low level Civil War" or whatever we want to call what we have now moving forward IMO. It might get worse, but I still don't see how a shooting war breaks out. We'd be in mad max territory with no real society for that to happen I think (and that is certainly possible, our pathetic response to covid showed me that).

Can't remember it now, but there was a recent article I read that said we continue to lack the imagination to figure out what Trump and co will do next. Or how we naively cling to the notion that some 250 year old parchment paper is going to somehow save our asses.

"Our institutions will not save us" or something to that effect.

Paper, and rules and norms.

Turns out, when someone is willing to stomp on the rules and norms and normal red lines, the system kinda goes..."er...." We count on creeps like Nixon and Trump to do what Nixon did when getting caught. Or do what Gore did after losing a controversial election. Trump just flips up a tiny middle finger and says what you gonna do? McConnell says fuck you, I'll wait a year to do my job and approve a Supreme Court justice. What you gonna do?

How fucking quaint does Watergate look at this point....

The cases currently running against Trump get an "incomplete" at best if the question is "will they stop him". If none of them put him away by November, they'll be history if he wins. So far nothing has stopped him including being found liable for rape in civil court so we'll see. I'm not overly optimistic but all I can do is vote, donate etc.
