EV's should be mandated to have cow catchers on the front. At least pedestrians stand a better chance of being brushed off rather than sent flying.
Of course drivers glued to their phones are a big problem too, as are the "I need a bigger wang" trucks where I doubt the drivers can even see a pedestrian if they are anywhere close to them due to the height of the hoods.
Iirc, don't EVs have a noise added, or at least for backing up?
My rule of thumb is, I don't want 'i had the right of way' as my epitaph. Rule of tonnage wins every time.err, if it is your turn to cross, you got right of way. As long as you are in the general vicinity of the crosswalk and not the middle of the street, you got right of way and no you should not be mowed down. Or are you a fan of Death Race 2000?
Everyone that drives a Tesla is a Muskhole.Yeah, I think they all do that. I should know as we own a Tesla, but somehow my oldest son gets to drive it....? I'm torn, it's fantastic to drive but I hate being seen to support that blithering asshole Musk. I sorta kid, I drive so little that it makes little sense for me to drive the least expensively fueled car, I get it.
So above 19mph--I doubt you'd hear most modern cars (EV or not) coming at you at speed in time to get out of the way. This isn't 1975 where everything is loud. Pay attention, both peds and drivers, and cross roads where you should.

You literally help his shitty behavior .
Agreed .I would not say every Tesla owner by a long shot. Every Cybertruck owner? There is a case.
Anyway there is a means to exonerate yourself:

Take it for what it's worth. Anyone driving a Tesla is fair game. I can't understand why anyone would support this guy.Well don't I feel glum today now. I've been called a "Muskhole"--did you come up with that all by yourself?
Ok, I'm over it.
So pedestrians should have to walk a mile plus out of their way to legal cross a street? Otherwise they are open targets? Also research shows Jay walking is actually safer than properly crossing at intersections. Almost like the concept of Jay walking was invented by the car lobby.err, if it is your turn to cross, you got right of way. That is a design issue. LoL how can jaywalking be safer than designated crossing points? So pedestrians should have to walk a mile plus out of their way to legal cross a street? Could it be that EVs are far more likely to have giant tablets on their dash and controls buried in those tablets?
EVs also have far less long distance highway driving, where pedestrians rarely get hit. It looks like this analysis didn't actually control for much/anything and just blamed it on the sound.

I grew up in a county that may have had a mile or two of streets that did not have sidewalks. I now live in a county where the only place there are sidewalks is in town or were put in by the developers or subdivisions. Otherwise apparently they are a horrible burden to tax payers. That would certainly help pedestrians.while i do agree pedestrians have *some* responsibility for their own safety, maybe we should make more pedestrian-friendly cities so that walking is inherently safe - or vastly safer than it currently is?
I'm always amazed at how much tires themselves make noise when an EV goes by.Yeah, I think they all do that. I should know as we own a Tesla, but somehow my oldest son gets to drive it....?
