What are the chances that Nvidia's keynote spoils the party?
They have little to show, and whatever new they could show isn't out until next year.
Sure they could tease client BW but that really doesn't change anything outside of being seen as desperate.
All this is is their introduction to doing PC SoC's and faffing off about software as per usual.
It is very obviously designed to take anything away from AMD's actual Computex opening keynote. I guarantee they mention both Qualcomm and Intel and avoid AMD.
A very petty off premises unofficial 'keynote' plus the event they are doing a few days after is all to try to fill the newscycle and obfuscate AMD.
Because guess what, AMD are the only actual competitor and if you need proof, well how NV deals with them is the proof.
Announcing something that out-halos Halo.
The 2025 part is clearly a premium ultrathin part, they want dGPU for the higher TDP designs.
AMD will show what comes out in Q3 and even then RDNA4 is likely a teaser with launch at probably Gamescom.
I am hoping for a one more thing, whether a Halo tease or MI400 tease, but AMD probably wants to keep max opsec on 2025 parts.

I really don’t think Nvidia feels threatened by AMD in any meaningful way.

They literally had their main PR bot come out and downplay suggestions from a former employee that NV was untouchable for the next decade.
Sure said guy is clearly posting garbage on twitter but they still did it.
They are very paranoid by nature, AMD called their bluff as the above post said and NV went full radio silent after.
Plus teasing their next gen before GTC which is unheard of. This latest event is straight up damage control from what they know AMD will be showing the morning after.
NV knows AMD has the right plan and the pieces to execute it, nobody else does.

The guy who said about the 130 TOPS per Watt NPU?

You seem to quite optimistic about AMD's chances.

It's not an Nvidia thread. It's not an Intel thread. It's not an ancient Greek history thread. But if the offtopic and completely unrelated posts don't stop. I will metaphorically start Sparta kicking people down the well the way I did those posts. The on topic memes are fine as it is okay to have fun. But keep it about Zen 5. And don't blow the thread up with the memes, show a little discretion.

I am really curious how AMD have managed to keep leaks to a minimum, pretty impressive even if a little boring for us here.

My prediction is if AMD show a geomean IPC figure it will be lower than some of the numbers in this thread because it will be fitted to the NT Specint 2017 uplift like Zen 3 and Zen 4 were. Until testers get product in hand we won't know if the 1T claims hold up but if we see games on the upper end of the IPC chart then it will be an indicatior.

Boring? 481 pages of tech gossip begs to differ.

But things could've been a tad bit more interesting if MLID were here

I don't think MLID has any Zen 5 info. He is just trying to stick to what sounds 'reasonable' based on prior Zen generations and if the NT geomean is closeish he can claim the win and say some nonsense like they eeked out a bit extra last minute with firmware or he can point to specific benchmarks which are close to his claims and say retrospectively that these were the benchmarks his 'sources' were talking about.

The thing with the more outrageous claims is either they are click bait nonsense or they are true, there is usually little to distinguish them. The fact adroc and Kepler have made a very specific claim for a very specific config of a very specific benchmark means it is falsifiable and there won't be any wiggle room. Either they nail the prediction or they don't.

Expecting hilarious variations of beating the drum for AI PC from the upcoming presentation.

* Hawk Point & Strix Point both having endless AI possibilities.
* Look at those random MS Windowze Copilot benchmarks!
* A MS talking head saying Copilot can help you with an Excel formula or writing an email.
* A Lenovo talking head praising AMD for letting them put the AI PC sticker on their products.
* A Sony talking head presenting their new line of AI laptops made for AI by AI featuring 1-2 AMD models.
* "desigin wins"
* RDNA 3.5 has 5 new WMMA instructions more than RDNA 3 - AI ML breakthrough!
* Also Strix is Zen 5 based which is a ground up design which is better than Zen 4.
* See Granite Zen 5 can run at 5.5GHz while playing a game. Wow!

You guys are overlooking the elephant in the room, namely the M$ 40 TOPS requirement. How are they gonna put a positive spin on the fact that they don't meet that requirement? Yes, they can remain silent and ignore the topic altogether but it's such a huge indicator of the straining relationship between M$ and AMD/Intel. AMD and Intel should join together to create their own Linux based OS and destroy M$'s empire. This is not M$ making a leap forward for a better computing experience. It's them telling the x86-64 gang, We don't need you anymore. I still don't get how AMD can launch desktop Zen 5 without an accompanying NPU since it should theoretically be a trivial matter for them by dint of owning Xilinx.
