But why so little!!! > _ < Like shouldn’t being a convicted felon turn everyone off to him. Just shows how truly sad the electorate is.
40% of the country belongs to a cult who only get information from the cult they believe. The rest of us are an out-group of evil to them. He is want they want to be. Rich, power hungry and filled with hate and willing to look down on all their lessers vocally and by actionBut why so little!!! > _ < Like shouldn’t being a convicted felon turn everyone off to him. Nope, it shows how LAZY, DUMB, and easily manipulated the electorate is.But why so little!!! > _ < Like shouldn’t being a convicted felon turn everyone off to him. Just shows how truly sad the electorate is.
I think it's apt to bump up. He'll be a convicted felon for at least the rest of 2024. A lot of people who don't know the nature of the charges will find out. The crimes make him out a sleaze and a crook who HIMSELF stole a POTUS election. Thank you Stormy Daniels and Alvin Bragg and the 12 jurors and etc. While more surveys have to come in it really looks like the guilty verdict has cost Trump 2-3 points, which is kinda about what I would have expected. Getting sentenced right before the convention could cause another ding too.
A plurality of those we called back for the study approved of the verdict, but a sizable share said they had not heard enough to say whether they approved or disapproved of the outcome. More than a quarter said they’d paid little or no attention to Mr. Trump’s legal battle.
It's not actually that high. Trump got around 74 million votes in 2020, which is less than 25% of the population.40% of the country belongs to a cult who only get information from the cult they believe. You need to compare that to the voting population in the election, not the overall country population (or even eligible voters, because not everyone who is eligible ends up voting)It's not actually that high. Trump got around 74 million votes in 2020, which is less than 25% of the population.
Still insane though.
People who don't vote don't count, regardless of eligibility or registration status. DJT got 46.8% in 2020. That's actually a slight % gain from 2016, surprisingly (third party totaled to over 5% of the popular vote). But agreed, 25% of the entire population is a meaningless figure. You need to compare that to the voting population in the election, not the overall country population (or even eligible voters, because not everyone who is eligible ends up voting)

And this is why I keep saying the Democratic messaging needs to focus on convincing people to register and vote. It wouldnt take a whole lot of new voters to bury the Republicans. You need to compare that to the voting population in the election, not the overall country population (or even eligible voters, because not everyone who is eligible ends up voting)
i was responding to "40% of the country belongs to a cult", there was nothing about "the voting population".
It's really difficult to get a handle on how a different country is feeling when all you have is the internet to go on as the internet seems to be a force multiplier for insanity.Well, if the voting adults in a family are in the cult, it's not unreasonable to consider the not-eligible-to-vote children to be so also. Arguably the relevant figure is the % of the adult population (which presumably is somewhere between 25% and 40%?)
I live in a pretty liberal state and I can confidently tell you that every American that self-identifies as a conservative is absolutely mental. It's really difficult to get a handle on how a different country is feeling when all you have is the internet to go on as the internet seems to be a force multiplier for insanity.
That said the right wing in America (at least a worryingly large amount of them) seem properly mental. Like believing in absolutely mental things.
I do miss the days when my main disagreements with conservatives were about tax policy or workers rights rather than if vaccines have chips in them or that there are Jewish space lasers!I live in a pretty liberal state and I can confidently tell you that every American that self-identifies as a conservative is absolutely mental.
It's far more about presentation than reality. I live in Trump country, in the "worst" state in the union. If you came here to visit for a few weeks all you'd find is a lot of polite friendly people who want nothing more than a quiet life and a family. The extremists and idiots get all the press, and there is no shortage of them all across the spectrum. It's really difficult to get a handle on how a different country is feeling when all you have is the internet to go on as the internet seems to be a force multiplier for insanity.

Yeah they're just voting for a guy who's explicitly said he will punish his political opponents, and a party who very much hates women, POC, and LGBTQ folks. It's far more about presentation than reality. Every Trump voter I know supports Trump as a reaction to a political direction they're very uncomfortable with, not out of hate or the desire to punish.
a political direction they're very uncomfortable with
20 years ago I'd have agreed with you about the wingnuts being on both sides but now... well honestly all the batshit crazy stuff seems to be coming from one side. And not just from random crazies on the internet, actual "legit" politicians. The extremists and idiots get all the press, and there is no shortage of them all across the spectrum.
Ah yes, the horrible direction that people need to be treated as people. The human condition is a bit more complicated than some 2000 year old work of fiction says it is. Because let’s face it your base Trump voter is voting on culture war bullshit. Bullshit that is astroturfed by organizations funded by many of the richest people in this country with the express goal of maintaining and increasing their wealth and power.Every Trump voter I know supports Trump as a reaction to a political direction they're very uncomfortable with, not out of hate or the desire to punish.
Hypocrites the lot of themI laugh my ass off everytime I see some brave Trump supporter in a brodozer with a Lions not Sheep sticker across their back window, because they are too dumb to realize they are the fucking sheep. This is your average Trump voter.

This is the single dumbest thing I have read from you. People want a quiet life so they vote for a raping, racist, felon, conman who cheated on all his wives and is blatant misogynist ? Trump believes sea level rise will increase beachfront property. That his level of dumb. Are you kidding me with this bullshit? You live in bizarre world. Your “quiet people” that want to vote for Trump are one or more of the above including you. It's far more about presentation than reality. I live in Trump country, in the "worst" state in the union.
