Help Needed: Cant conenct bluray player to network

Yesterday my mother bought a Panasonic BDT210 Bluray Player that has built in wifi and Netflix. When i connect to her wireless network and enter her password it says it connects fine, but when it tries to do its test it fails on the gateway part. Thus we cannot update the firmware or get onto Netflix or any other network apps on the device.

It says it gets connected to her home network but not the internet and that it is probably a problem or setting on her router and/or hub. Her router is the Netgear N150 Rangemax. I played with some settings within the router but nothing seemed to work with my limited knowledge of networks.

We exchanged the first one out thinking it was just a defective unit but the new unit acts 100% the same. So im sure its a network/router issue to resolve.

I did download the firmware onto CD and updated it that way thinking it may fix the problem but it did not.

Anyone have any advice? Im pretty noobish when it comes to setting up wireless networks so keep it simple if you can

when it "says it connects fine" is there any way to see if it has an IP address and default gateway? either way, id log in to your wifi ap/router/whatever and see if it lists the device as a dhcp client

then turn off your wireless security and see if it works, then start enabling security (maybe at wep, wpa, then wpa2 to see if its works for a damn with any of them)

Im not at her house at the moment but i think it came up with an IP address on the Panasonic Bluray i could check. I think the default gateway was blank though if i remember right. I think last nigh i tried that were i turned the security off but it still didnt work. But ill try it again.

Likely a key mismatch. That's why seeing if it gets a legitimate IP will point to if that's it or not.

If you get ip from your router and default gateway and dns servers you can eliminate key mismatch. Connected doest mean you don't have a bad key.

Yep - what spidey said sounds right. Log into the wireless router and double check your wireless key then re-enter it.

Ok im at my moms house now so i can toy with this some more. Should the IP, submask, gateway, DNS's match between what the router says and the bluray player says?

It should match other clients. Many routers hand out their internal ip for dns to clients.

Ok here is what ive found out so far. The IP address and subnet mask do not match what the router has. And the default gateway and both DNS fields on the bluray player are blank.

When i run the test i get:
Wireless setting = pass
IP address setting = home network available
Connection to gateway = FAIL

Says cannot obtain IP address from router and that home network(DNLA) is available but not the internet.

That is all from the blu ray player.

Not really sure if all my terminology will be correct but im assuming the router was not assigning an IP address for the BD player. I had to manually enter an IP, Sub mask, gateway, and primary and secondary DNS's. She had 2 laptops connected i could see on her router and i just chose the next IP number after those. Then did an ipconfig/all on both laptops to see what numbers they use just to verify. Took 3 tries but eventually got it up and running.

Um that's not what I would consider fixed. If your mom connects another computer up and the router assigns that computer the same IP as your manually entered blu ray player - you now have an IP conflict. You have two options - fix the original portion and find out why it wasn't getting a correct IP address.

We can help if you give us the IP, subnet and gateway the blu-ray player was getting. You can also find out what the DHCP range is in the router and assign the bluray player an address OUTSIDE of this range to avoid conflicts.

I'd opt for the first one so everything stays on DHCP - just my .02 on it.

I'm having the same issue with a Panasonic DMP-BDT110. I have a wired connection to my Netgear WNR2000. When I attempt to perform the "Network Easy Setting" task on the Panny BD player, I get the same report as soulcougher:

"1. LAN cable connection : Pass
2. IP address setting : Home network available
3. Connection to gateway : Fail

The IP address is only available within the home network.
The Internet functions (BD-Live etc.) are not available.
Please check the hub and broadband router settings."

While the router has port #3 lit up showing the BD player connected, when I log on to my router, it does not list the MAC address that the BD player gives me.

Any help?

Hi what is the default passcode to internet connection on the panasonic interface ?

the manuals dont list this passcode, but the machine asks for it

i couldnt even start step 1 to panasonic 3d blueray home theatre in internet access
