What octopus and human brains have in common.
Cephalopods like the octopus have a rather large set of microRNAs.
These microRNAs are responsible for gene expression regulation, modulating the protein production behavior.

"
Rajewsky has been researching miRNAs for more than 20 years. Instead of being translated into messenger RNAs, which deliver the instructions for protein production in the cell, these genes encode small pieces of RNA that bind to messenger RNA and thus influence protein production.
These binding sites were also conserved throughout cephalopod evolution – another indication that these novel miRNAs are of functional importance.

Fascinating! https://www.canarymedia.com/article...h-about-how-sustainable-aviation-fuel-is-made

I'm glad that I didn't spend sleepless nights wondering what happened to all that gunk and now I'm glad I won't have to. But I'm not optimistic about the chances that this is how fried food gunk is handled all over the world. The reason is simple. Despite us all being homo sapiens, the way one group deals with problems is a lot more stupid than the way some other group might be doing it. We suck at global standardization, especially for solutions to problems that would save this world.

Pedalbeast :
From the text :
"
Pedalbeast (Pedaalbeest) made by Aat Dirks and Ad Lakerveld. An evolutionairy branche of Theo Jansens Strandbeesten. Strandbeest becomes Streetbeast. Pedaling backhands is necessary for stability and saves a reverse mechanism

I'm sure at least some of you already knew this, but it was still interesting to me.

The calendar divides one year into 365 days. However, Earth's actual full orbital time around the sun is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds — which we account for by adding a leap year every four years to round the calendar up. But this creates its own problem: four times 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds is 23 hours and 15 minutes, meaning it's 45 minutes short of a full day.

To account for this drift, the calendar is "reset" by skipping a leap day every four centuries, with the next reset due in 2100. But until then, during leap years like this year, the solstice will occur 18 hours earlier than the previous year and 45 minutes earlier than the previous leap year.

So every successive leap year from now until the end of the millennium will be the earliest since 1796 by 45 minutes.

One day after the solstice this year, on June 21, skywatchers will be treated to a beautiful Strawberry Moon — the lowest full moon of the year.

Most pufferfish seem to have an extremely potent toxin called tetrodotoxin spread over the body depending on the specific puffer fish family.
Below is a youtube clip of a pufferfish being attacked by a Bobbit worm.
The puffer-fish immediately pufs up , it increases its size in order to make it harder to swallow !
The raised and standing spikes in the skin when puffed up also help.
I guess the reason the Bobbit worm lets go because of the faul toxic taste and the spikes.
Bobbit worms are quite the hungry and determined type.

Amazing creatures of the sea...

Japanese green syllid worm (Megasyllis nipponica):

"
This sea worm's butt detaches from its body to swim off in search of love...
In one of the strangest paths to reproduction, this tiny Japanese sea worm actually grows a ‘mini-me’ at its rear end, which it then deploys so it can swim off on its own in search of similar autonomous tail of the opposite sex to spawn with. The worm, meanwhile, will then grow another, to deploy for mating once more.
