I can handle hard metal, so called 'death' metal, 'black' metal and whatever other terms you want to use. i cannot handle 'thrash' metal (which is just noise). It MUST be musical overall, not just a bunch of idiots beating on strings. The absolute worst thing is the distorted overdub track that is supposed to be some kind of lyrics.

Nux Vomica has one track (Reeling) I found by accident. The music is spectacular, one person I directed to it called it 'epic'. But it has that horrible noise dubbed over it. At least it's dubbed in a way that I can more or less ignore it and enjoy the music. I'd love to find an instrumental version without the noise. I've tried a few of their others and can't tolerate any of them.

Another is called Fear Satan by Mogwai, supposedly out of Scotland of all places. Really, quite a good instrumental piece. Very hard, very metal. But also musical.

Epica, terrific symphonic/orchestral hard metal. Fantastic voice of Simone Simmons when she SINGS. But they also do far too much of the distorted overdubbing that seriously detracts from how good the music is.

I don't do links or videos, so without only a band name and no description of the music, I have no idea what type of music some of you are referring to.

Personally I'm quite band specific, hence links to specific bands as to me it is the best way to get to know what they actually sound like.

80s Metallica is thrash metal, you seem to be describing the wrong genre of music (or you just really, really hate thrash metal, which knowing you, is possible). But that description doesn't sound like thrash to me, sound more like black metal.
Mogwai Fear Satan is not metal, it's post-rock. Distorted guitar does not metal make.

Bent Knee --- Way Too Long.

Weird tune. Metal, sort of. Singer screams, but not the death metal scream. Looks weird too. Reminds me of Janis Joplin in some ways.

I've just got completely hooked on a new band "Vægtløs" and their new Album "Aftryk"

The first track on the Album which contains four tracks.

Ingenting kan forhindre, at små struber skælver en forårsnat

(Nothing can prevent small throats from shaking on a night of spring)

Troels’ sister in law was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 2019 and this song was originally intended to be a get-better rally call, but as her life was tragically taken away, the song took a new direction: this song is for her young daughter. Life is beautiful, and that is why it hurts, and we need to take that into account, when life shows its darkest face. Let every memory of people we love remain forever.

What happens when former members of Foreigner, Warrant and Dokken get together? This album was released on Monday.
