so we go to work or whatever the steps we take to get to our vocation.
the step we leave behind is tattooed in time its observable its there.
u ever find yourself considering those steps in retrospect(or introspective)
I dunno, its unsettling I suppose expiring is too.

Heinlein was a weird dude, especially in his later years. Haven't revisited his early works in quite some time.
