Expected, but has no bite:

"(CN) — Europe’s top rights court ruled on Tuesday that Moscow has committed widespread human rights abuses in Crimea since it annexed the peninsula in 2014.

In a lengthy, 346-page decision, the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights found Russia had wrongfully detained civilians, tortured political leaders, unlawfully seized property and established an illegal border preventing Ukranians from leaving the area.

Kyiv filed a complaint with the court weeks after masked gunmen seized control of Crimea’s parliament building in 2014, accusing Moscow of illegally occupying the Black Sea peninsula. A second complaint was added in 2015.

The court found Russia in violation of 11 articles in the European Convention on Human Rights as well as several additional protocols, including the rights to life, property and freedom of movement. The treaty, which underpins the court, protects the political and civil rights of Europeans."

But, there's MORE!!!

"Some 7,000 individual cases against Russia over the conflict are still pending."

Watch out, AFU! Yuri's got guns for the golf carts now.

China's charging Putin 2.1million rubles ($24k) a pop for the non base models of these things. Just smacks of surviveability, no? What a shit show. Imagine being one of the poor bastards riding in one for an assault, then running into a Bradley. *womp womp* Frag goes through those like shit through a goose too, might not even make it to getting Bushmastered in the face.

More hot orc on orc action in Crimea, during that last big barrage looks like? It was only one helicopter, but likely two pilots Russia just removed from the war. Sorry, "nullified" is the term they use. Can't be enough of that really, regardless of who gets the credit. Ka-29s are more of a threat to AFU drones than golf carts gone technical I'm pretty sure.

"They [the Ukrainians] used a new tactic. Simultaneous attacks with USVs and UAVs. To repel the boat attack, aircraft need to be launched, and to counter UAVs, airborne targets need to be destroyed. But these actions do not work well together for us,” Russian sources stated.

Furthermore, the Russians revealed that the Ka-29 helicopter was mistakenly shot down by its own Pantsir-S1 air defense system. This friendly fire incident highlights the challenges and confusion faced during complex, multi-faceted engagements."

Well actually all that spiffy 'lil cart needs to get it armored up good and tight is to have the chassis extended about 4 meters or so and widen it about 3 meters more, then swap the engine out and install an AGT1500 powerplant in a modified engine compartment in the rear. Trash the wheels for tracks, replace all the sheetmetal with a a hull made of 46100 or HY80 steel on the cheap and install that between the tracks and slap a turret on top of that with a M68E1 main gun for force projection. They could even call it a M1 A2 Moderny Avtomat Systemyi Creightonye Abramski and it's all good. Really, not that much to get it going right.

Screw frags, a single .50 round will shut that thing down right quick. There's zero protection from small arms, may as well just be a motorcycle.

Well depends how it is used; as long as it stays behind the lines of combat and is used to shoot down drone it isn't horrible; of course if it gets anywhere near the line of combat it'll last 5 seconds. My guess is it is suppose to be used way in the back field against drone but the soldiers not being well trained will drive it to the front line to be obliterated.

I wonder if the engines were protected at all. As @[DHT]Osiris points out, a .50. cal round into the engine block would likely knock them out of operation.
From a brief search it seems the Germans only fielded heavy MGs (MG 131) in aircraft...the MG 42 likely would've lit these up but doubt they would've knocked them down unless they hit radiator or something?

Complete spitball.

These things were pretty effective in the desert:

But obviously no drones and little other air threat.

Erm. Speed, surprise and firepower work great together, it's true. But the SAS jeeps didn't hold up well to armored German units sent to stop them. The Luftwaffe in Northern Africa was the SAS' main threat back in the Paddy Mayne days, between attacking convoys and recon elements, to flying low and slow to track their paths back to hidden camps. No cover in the desert; if you're discovered by a fighter they get to strafe you as much as they want.

Lots of hazards for them no doubt. Reading up a bit on modern SAS, part of their training involves mechanical repair to do at least something if they break down, but spare parts?

I would imagine range would have been an issue back then. 1940s engines weren't known for fuel efficiency and what about cooling? A small leak somewhere and you overheat.

I though this opinion piece was pretty clear-sighted: https://www.politico.eu/article/vla...trump-uk-kremlin-moscow-ukraine-independence/
Key points: "NATO expansion" is volontary, the three Baltic states border Russia and have been a part of NATO for a while now, Finland just joined NATO and Russia proceeded to empty that border of military personnel, so clearly Putin doesn't feel threatened by "NATO expansion", he just does not want to lose control of Ukraine. But it's bad when Western leaders echo the Moscow line, even though many can hear the distortions for some it sticks like "The vaccine against the measles causes autism"

It's always been entirely obvious that this war had nothing to do with NATO expansion, Russia just depends on useful idiots to echo its propaganda.

The reason for this war is simple - Ukraine was/is removing itself as a client state of Russia and Russia wants them back. That's why the original goal was to decapitate Ukraine's political leadership and install a friendly government. Once that failed Russia went to plan B, which was to neuter Ukraine as a state.
