They never claimed more than 15%. If they did, I would like to see
Again, you're stuck on discussing the numbers while I'm talking about the marketing message. In marketing there's this concept of "unique selling proposition" , I'm sure you heard of it or used in some other form.

What is Zen 5 USP? Well, let's just let AMD tell us, let their message be heard:

We can discuss the numbers, the technical details. We can agree or disagree with AMD, but their message is crystal clear.

They will be the fastest x86 CPU at launch. And we x86 users can pretend that Apple doesn't exist because they refuse to run our x86 software. And Snapdragon Elite X isn't challenging a 9950X any time soon.
Again, you are lecturing me, as if I crafted the message. True or false, it does not change what AMD said. Their marketing message is "fastest consumer CPU in the world", this is how they positioned their product.

I wouldn't dare!

Just pointing out that AMD isn't wrong in what they are saying but if people choose to perceive their message the wrong way, nothing AMD can do about that. Why does AMD even need to acknowledge that Apple Mx exists? Because of Geekbench? Or a few other cross platform business or professional applications? The price of something Apple that can challenge a 9950X is high enough that Apple can be safely ignored. Heck, normal people with average income need to do financial planning if they want something Apple with 32GB RAM whereas they get easily 48GB or 96GB for a lot less with x86. That advantage is not going away. AMD knows that and sensible people know that too (the ones with too much money to spare pretend that Apple is the best deal in town).

+++ single thread uplift over zen 4 + upgrade path.
uhm, I don't think AMD expect zen4 home users to upgrade to zen5 for ST performance.

If you're a gamer with zen3 or older zen5 might be a viable option or wait for the X3D version.
If you're a gamer with a regular zen4 you'll at least wait for zen5 X3D.
If you're a gamer with a zen4 X3D you'll wait for zen6

zen5 is an evolutionary generation that for home useres will help AMD stay competitive against intel, but mostly it will help them stay competitive in the Threadripper/EPYC segment.

From what we've seen so far to me it seems like an ok upgrade, not amazeballs
It would be amazeballs for me if 9950X cracks the 100 second barrier in Rapydmark benchmark. Would tempt me to get one with a cheap mobo and DDR5-8800 CUDIMM (whenever that is available) and run that at whatever max RAM speed the Ryzen IOD can manage, with the lowest possible latency.

All marketing should be scrutinized even if Lisa meant x86 here, define fastest is it in gaming or general or both? Statements like that are fluff without proof and data.
