Looks like a poorly made poll to me and the results are incoherent - of course since you're always looking for a new reason to fill your diaper you spent no time thinking about it.

You don't have to be a genius to see the problem:

1)

It found that 38 percent of “deciders” said Trump would do a better job of handling threats of democracy to the U.S., while 29 percent said Biden and 23 percent said neither.

2)

Nearly three-quarters of “deciders” said they believe Trump would not accept the results of the election if he lost in November, while 33 percent said the same of Biden. Nearly half of the subgroup said Trump would try to be a dictator if he won, and just 15 percent said Biden would.

3)

The poll finds that just over half of Deciders think Trump is guilty of criminal charges of lying about voter fraud in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election, and more say he has been treated fairly rather than unfairly by the criminal justice system.

So 38% think Trump would do a better job of protecting democracy but nearly 50% think Trump would try to become a dictator if he wins, more than half think he lied in an attempt to steal the 2020 election, and even more think him being prosecuted for it is right.

Fundamentally if one believed that this poll was an accurate or even relevant (if accurate) representation of swing voter opinion then Biden should be getting wrecked in the swing state polls instead of probably slightly leading in 2/3 rust belt swings and within MOE in the 3rd.

The definition of 'deciders' seems to be based on nothing, but I will admit it's a bold move to purposefully select people who tend not to vote for your election poll.

If the polling industrial complex has any issues right now I think its modeling a higher turnout than 2020 and not being skeptical of eligible voters who did not vote in the 2020 election (with the highest turnout in 70 years) nor any other election as definitely voting in 2024.

Businesses want boring. Businesses are already on the way up, the govt rocking the boat as FAR greater chances of knocking a business down than accelerating growth. Biden is 'boring' to businesses. Trump is 'exciting'.

I don't know what's going on at NYT/Siena but I will take anybody's money who wants to bet Trump gets 30% of the black vote.

Either we are on the precipice of several historically large simultaneous political realignments or a lot of polling is just cooked. Has to be one or the other.

All eyes are on the first presidential debate Thursday night in Atlanta. Nearly three-quarters of respondents said they plan on watching, and about 16 percent said the outcome of the debate could change their vote. That includes 13 percent of Biden supporters, 12 percent of Trump supporters and a sizable 32 percent of those who back Kennedy, per the survey.
