Time for people to start hanging up 'the historical quotes' for all to see, everywhere. First up, Ezekiel 23:20.

Bright red. Font size 4500. When they get taken down, put them right back up, ad infinitum.

Maybe some Hosea 13:16 for the ardently pro life folks in attendance "The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their god. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."

Ahhhhh, 'history.'
That's it, I'm getting my wife an Ezekiel 23:20 bumper sticker, that is gold.

I don't live in those states, but if they tried that shit here in Pennsylvania, I'd sue every teacher that has a bible in their classroom, and the school, for trying to indoctrinate my child into another religion.
Exactly, and that in itself, that argument should be enough to declare these shenanigans unconstitutional and with supreme ease.

Unfortunately we are moving backwards, or at least some of the country is trying to.
Isn't that a corallary of MAGA? The implication is that the past was better than what transpired and we should try to, well, live in the past. Reactionaries.

Reactionary
Political ideology

Description

In political science, a reactionary or a reactionist is a person who holds political views that favor a return to the status quo ante—the previous political state of society—which the person believes possessed positive characteristics that are absent from contemporary society. Wikipedia

I'd like to clarify that I have nothing against the bible. If it is part of your religion, you have a right to it.

My issue is the attempted indoctrination of our youth into a religion they do not believe in. It smacks of the crusades, where the church went to war to either convert the nonbelievers, or have less nonbelievers in the world one death at a time.

If you want the bible in a class, because it is a historical document, then put it in a history class and it should only be used when teaching about religion in history, or put the bible in a mythology class because not everyone believes in it. It does not belong in every classroom.

What they're attempting is pure shenanigans and we all know it. Any attempt to say otherwise is sophistry.

Hey guys, don't worry. Pushing religious doctrines to youngsters work in the opposite direction. They get more Deists/Atheists who speak out louder. Been there, seen that thanks to Erdogan here.

Can't wait for the literature teachers to teach the Bible in an extreme critical literature review fashion to fulfill the requirements set out by the state while it works its way through conservative-packed courts. Oklahoma Republicans on teaching the Bible: "not like that".

Like I said when this issue pooped up earlier: require the kids to memorize the begat tree. You'll have a class of atheists in no time.

What filth…..has no business in a school.

Sure it does, why do you hate baby jesus? Why do you hate THA LORD?!

Should they start with something a little tamer? How about how guys shouldn't pull out or god will kill them. Red states and teen pregnancy go together like biscuits and gravy after all.

Genesis 38:8-10
"Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also."

These are important historical documents so it's important that everyone know what they are.

My own personal radicalization against organized religion probably began in the 4th grade when they made us recite from memory the books of the bible in order on a daily basis. It seemed pointless even at that age.

i hope there is a lawsuit to have the Quran and Satanic Bible in every classroom as well.

I don't remember the particulars, it's been years...but that's exactly what the Satanic Church (or whatever it's called) did when FL was going to try to force Christian books on kids. They sued to get their booklet included under whatever law it was. Caused the Christian chucklefucks to back down, so I became a Satanic fan that day!

It was hilarious because their book--which I read--was actually quite reasonable much better than the Christian bullshit. Keeping in mind I believe in God and Satan as much as I do in Voldemort and Sauron of course.

And yes, maga is all about the old times. When nobody cared about DDT killing wildlife, when women and darkies knew their place (in the kitchen and not where decent people are, respectively), when good guys were good and bad guys wore black hats. It's a philosophy for children. Slow children at that.

Should have the kids read William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. That would give them some perspective on what's going on in their state assemblies. It would also help them in navigating the political currents they will encounter in their lives. Just a suggestion. If I taught school, I'd consider doing that. Downside is might get pushback from dumb parents, administrators, etc.

Most likely the Satanic Temple, they're the activists, the Church of Satan are mostly spooky hedonists. Neither believes in Satan as an actual entity, he's just there to stand as a symbol of defiance to overbearing Christianity.

Red states in 5 years? Where did all the professionals go? Why we have no doctors or teachers? Jesus said he would provide. Scratches their asses and stares blankly.

I sure will never go to red state again. Forcing the Bible in schools. That book is filled with despicable acts, ideas and thoughts. It is also mostly unprovable and has no place in a setting of the provable.

I'm all for this and highlighting how insane it is. "Now children this is how you know if a Christian hasn't actually read the bible. Jesus was a socialist and would be against the greed, lies, and hate that Republicans are perpetrating."

Then make these assholes defend their behavior against the Bible, whilst they swear on it. Out them for the dumbasses they are, and hammer them with it. Liberals should embrace the Bible big time and just constantly throw it condemning Republicans' behavior. Dumbfound these morons for the hypocrites they are.

There's literally no way they can go after teachers teaching what's in the Bible that they won't end up pissed off about as its blatantly socialistic and against most of the policies that Republicans have. If they get mad about it then its their own faults and then watch as they try to twist the Bible and then make them have to read that shit, wherein it'll be obvious they're misinterpreting it or are spouting stuff that will make people turn against them more (like beating slaves and shit that's in there).
They really just like the old testament. Fire, brimstone, and eternal damnation.

That's awful, but as an aside to almost anyone who works professionally, or might be job seeking--get the hell off social media. Unless you are only posting about giving food to orphaned baby deer or something, no good can come from being on there.

Especially in one of the shit states run by asshats like bro just above ^.

Agreed

Can we also put to rest any claim that Republicans actually care about free speech and oppose "cancel culture"?
