Seems the only logical way forward is..

1. Get Sotomayor to step down
2. Put Kam on SCOTUS
3. Get a new VP candidate
4. Get Biden to re-assess if needed

But when have the dems ever been logical?
if you think the fox news paranoia train is bad...just wait until you do this a few months before the election.

Isn't it a little interesting that it's the liberals playing the fear game? "Trump will end democracy if he's democratically elected" doesn't ring true to me.
The states get to decide who the president will be, and if the states decide that's Trump, then that's what we'll get. The republic will stand, Trump will be replaced in four years, the world will go on.

Are you forgetting about the time he literally tried to steal a free and fair election by installing a fake set of electors ? Do you not recall how he and his cronies have lied constantly about the 2020 election being rigged? He is still doing it so if your memory is that bad, your conative decline is worse than Biden's.

He now has a has a playbook from Leonard Leo that is designed to install an authoritarian dictator like Trump's pal Putin. Please don't ignore our now ultra Christian POS supreme court.
Biden is shit but if you pick Trump over him you are an effing traitor.

I look at all of those red states on Indus' map and think to myself how can so many people be so ignorant, so misinformed, so pig headedly mistaken, so thoroughly mind fucked into believing that Trump is what America needs to remain as one of the world's foremost super powers. The sheer insanity of it blows my mind.

I harken back to how the Gary Hart/Donna Rice scandal ruined his chances of a presidential candidacy, of how Bill Clinton was impeached over his lying about a fling he had with Lewinsky just to name a couple and compare that with Trump's long list of scandals he's involved in while still having a good chance of winning this year's election. It freaks me out that the Republicans can tolerate such blatant malfeasance and chicanery perpetrated by Trump while holding the Democrats to a completely opposite lofty standard for competency, morals and ethics.

So what's up with the Republicans that they can behave so irrationally, so unbelievably moronic, duplicitous, shameless and hypocritical as they talk themselves into believing that they're the sane ones, that they're the ones who know right from wrong when what they've been doing to themselves is a form of fanatical political flagellation in order to keep smearing layers upon layers of lipstick on that orange tinted swine of theirs.

The sheer insanity of it all. And worse still things can't appear to be any more normal for them no matter how ridiculously macabre, how psychotic and schizophrenic their behavior has become in defense of the indefensible. High order lunacy while living in a state of denial of their illnesses is what it seems to be.

It ain't 4D chess, it's two retarded kids playing checkers, and they're all the same color.
You do realize most people with intellectual disabilities, their friends and family view that word as a slur right? Are you a dick and don't care? Is it that hard to find another word to use? If you are tight on funds I can by you a thesaurus.

@ondma in another thread you asked “How can anybody support for President someone who has so much hatred and anger in his heart, and has been given freedom to do essentially whatever he wants if elected, by the Supreme Court.“

That post ^^right up there^^ explains a lot of it.

Again, the fact that this thewad is 37 pages long at this point tells me that the Drms screwed the pooch. This should have been a simple "yep, Joe had to step down in Septemeber because he had to but <insert Rockstar standin> has been doing such amazing things since 2020, so we are good."

Think of VP Biden. He was pretty active and everyone knew what he was while he worked for Obama. We are NOT in that situation and IT WAS AVOIDABLE.
Yea, I thought Kamala had a lot of potential as VP. Unfortunately, she has been pretty much invisible except to pounding for abortion rights, which is already a winning issue for the Dems. I also believe she was put in charge of border policy, and we all can see how that worked out. Truly a lost opportunity.

Under the Constitution, the VP has pretty much no formal powers. By tradition, it's a ceremonial post with some "break glass in case of emergency" implications. The last time the VP had real power (Dick Cheney) was an utter disaster.

You believe a lot of things, many of which are untrue.

Maybe @Greenman will man up and edit his post. My fellow OO noted it, but I don't wish to play nanny. The real slur goes to the person still using it to describe others.

I think Biden just needs to get creative now. He could issue an executive order for Ft. Knox to ship a gold bar to every registered independent voter, while he yells “This is an official act!” like Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy

How about this spitball:

Every pro insurrection justice catches a Hellfire simultaneously. Sorry, can't ask why; Biden was operating in his official capacity as CiC, clear and present danger stuff. By executive order, Biden appoints Kamala Harris as a Justice and nine other interim justices, bringing the total to 13. Nine makes a quorum. Senate can confirm or replace later. Repaired SCOTUS immediately corrects the immunity debacle and affirms the 14th 3C applies to Trump. Biden says he's not stepping down - but he's decided not to run again.

Open book time. Both sides get to hold snap primaries where they each select candidates who are neither over the hill, Russian assets, or both.

Just give Taylor Swift a nudge nudge wink wink. Have her publicly announce that if Joe Biden wins another term she might do a free 8 city North American tour.

All fixed up. I'm nothing if not accommodating.

Just fyi, I had no idea retarded was a slur. I've heard "special needs" used, but that seems to be a very broad category. As it happens, my best friend has a child that falls under that description, and the issue has never come up.

I get that and I am not arguing about that. I am simply stating that this scenario should have been planned for. Imagine if you will that someone like Kamala Harris had been front and center and doing some really "nifty" stuff in the public eye for the last 3 years. They could have had 2 or 3 people who could have been on PR tours engaging with the public and doing all the right things to become appealing to that small group of people who will swing the election. There are plenty of politicans who never have to make hard governing decisions and could be bland enough to get votes.

The Dems should not have been caught off guard by the blowback from a bad debate performance. And yet, here we are. Some people are just more pissed off about this.

You must be new to American politics, I’ll clue you in, Dems have been catastrophic when it comes to strategic planning and gaining seats in Congress. Just think, a party that has a really good economic record, whose main issues they highlight and their solutions are supported by a majority of the country and who has a large all encompassing “tent”, are only good enough to get the slimmest of majorities in Congress and frequently lose in states that lean left. I don’t know if it’s incompetence or some other factor but those kind of odds shouldn’t result in the piss poor performance they frequently get.

More recently at least, the core of Republicans has become this tight little tornado of fascism, as a result Democrats have become this burgeoning hurricane spreading hundreds of miles, attempting to accommodate every possible faction and succeeding at accommodating very few. There's literally not enough time in 4 years of constant coverage to address everyone's needs, or talk about what they've done. Even unencumbered by Republicans, they still fail to hit enough targets that people will actually pay attention to.

Kamala Harris is patently unelectable, mostly from factors beyond her control, like being a woman and a woman of color no less.

BUT ALSO, even aside from the above, she simply presents very, very poorly, imho, and this goes back to 2020 primary, when she most came to my attention.

Please don't blindly go down that path. Politics is a winner-take-all blood sport. We can't afford a second Trump administration.

Kamala's candidacy would bring out every shade of latent and outright bigot we have in this country, and despite some enclaves on both coasts and elsewhere, bigotry is woven throughout our history and deep into our souls, our institutions, our economy.

All that aside, given the alternatives, I would be elated for a Kamala Harris administration, and would vote for her just as many times as I could get away with.
Vote early and vote OFTEN!

The problem with declaring "retarded" out of bounds is that we need a word to describe people acting in a retarded fashion. When the word is replaced with another word meaning exactly the same thing, we end up right where we started.

Edit: I am somewhat fond of daft though it doesn't have quite the same meaning.
