List of X99 motherboards compatible with ECC memory ?

Hello,

There are two types of X99 motherboards compatible with ECC memory:
- The ones officially compatible
- The ones not officially compatible

If you have tested your board with ECC memory, please report it here. (With Memory serial number and bios version if possible).

It's just about ECC or REG ECC compatibility, not necessarily having the error correction actually working.

Boards in the MSI X99A line list the xeon as being compatible so chances are ECC also is.

Yeah, I'm running a e5 1650 v4 2400mhz RDIMM 128gb on my board. ASUS X99-E WS 3.1 USB
Bios 3601

CPU: Xeon E5-1650 v4
Board: ASRock X99 Taichi
Memory: 256GB comprised of 8 sticks KVR21R15D4/32 (ECC Registered 32GB 2133MHz).
Before picking this memory set - I've successfully booted the system with a single stick KVR24R17D4/32 (2400MHz equivalent), but due to limited stock had to fall back to 2133

Bump! I have an X99 Deluxe with a 1660v3, and I am thinking of upgrading it with some 32GB RDIMMs. Unfortunately, they are still not very cheap.

A small update here, I got a deal on a set of used Samsung DDR4 2133 ECC RDIMMs, for a total of 256GB (8x32GB)! Installed them all in the motherboard, and it works just fine, my CPU OC is still working even! Memtest86 was done with 4 passes, took nearly 2 days though.

Funny thing though, the first time I booted Windows 10, I noticed the boot drive, a 512GB 950 Pro, was almost completely full. Turns out Windows had supersized the page file LOL. I was sure to fix that.

Hey, I don't have that board, but did you try updating the BIOS? Might need that to work with a larger DIMM like 32GB.

Yes, i've tried to updating the BIOS to 1.5 (latest version), and still not working on my ram, does this problem to memory or the board problems?, i'm so confused.
I'm now using a non ECC ram, 8 Gigs + 4 Gigs, it's work fine

Possibly an incompatibility with the motherboard BIOS for that RAM? Also, have you tried different slots for your ECC RDIMM?

I think so, i'll try to buy a new ECC RDIMM under 32gigs, with a different chipset, yes i tried all the slots on my boards, it's still getting that error debug code

Another update, now it's working properly, but i used a different speed 2133Mhz and only 4GB ram to test it, well i thought at the first time it's not working, i'm not sure either the motherboard doesn't support 32GB ECC RDIMM, or just the RAM Died, thanks for the advice

Another thing to try, would be some mid capacity RDIMMs, depending on how much RAM you need. My server has 8x32GB Samsung RDIMMs, you may not need that much lol, but perhaps grab 4x16GB and try that. Remember that you generally want 4 matching DIMMs on these boards to take advantage of quad channel memory, for better performance.

Yes, i do that for sure, i'll matching that 4 DIMMs in my board, but i still not sure about my problem is, on the board side or RAM side, well i need that for running virtual machine (5 windows 10 , and 4 linux ubuntu) is 64 GB Memory, is enough for that?

Okay, so i have a problems again, it's not working again on 16GB memory modules RDIMM, it's SK-Hynix HMA42GR7MFR4N-TF 16GB 2Rx4 PC4-2133P, i only use single stick it's not working again, the debug error code same 19 b0 55, does ranks in module is the problem?, cause the 16 and 32 GB is 2Rx4, while the 4GB only 1Rx8, i need help

Can't say this will help for sure, but maybe try Samsung RDIMMs. Or look for ones that are listed on the motherboard compatibility list, if applicable.

Nope, it's not working aswell, i already try and buy Samsung RDIMMs still not working, well on the motherboard compatibility list it's hard to find, the ECC RDIMMs that are compatible to motherboard

Maybe this BIOS just doesn't have the code for supporting registered DIMMs because MSI did not intend for it. Nothing about it in the specs, manual, and I could find no RDIMM on MSI memory compatibility list. You are using the recommended DIMM population rules?

Yes i do, i tried all the DIMM Rules, it's not working, even i tried to installed it with single stick not working, i think it's just only not compatible with the Ranks, because i read on the other MSI Board it written 1Rx8 in ECC, maybe i tried with 8GB 1Rx8 SK-Hynix 2133P

An update, the problem was solved, the reasons is RANK, i bought the ECC 1Rx8 8GB Sk-Hynix 2400T, works fine now

Hmm, interesting. It's kind of a pity if you can't use larger RDIMMs though...for what it's worth, my Asus X99 Deluxe works with 8x32GB RDIMMs. These are Samsung though. I also have an Asus X99 A-II, but I just have an i7 5930k and 4x4GB in that, no fancy Xeon or ECC in that.
