Question Computer sometimes freezes and I'm not sure why. Think it may be chrome related.

So I'm pretty familiar with computers and I've tried several things that I'll list below, but basically it freezes sometimes when I walk away and its idling. Not often, but maybe once a week or so. I've tried the key combo to refresh my graphics driver (win+control+shift+
which doesn't help. I think it may be related to chrome/brave. I'm not sure, but in several instances I've had both closed and it didn't freeze, but it doesn't freeze with it open often so it might not be that. I am using the portable version of brave if that makes a difference, but I rarely use it. This has been happening for a several months and it also could be related to my graphics card swap (put in a Nvidia 2060), but I don't have any issues with it otherwise so I'm not sure.

1) Tested RAM with the windows mem diag
2) Tested all hard drives/SSDs with Seagate Seatools and Crystal Disk Info
3) Updated graphics card drivers
4) Updated BIOS and motherboard/processor drivers
5) Chrome - I've had graphics acceleration on and off
6) Stress tested hardware
7) sfc /scannow - it fixed some corrupt Windows files
8) Checked Windows logs and the only thing it really shows is an improper shutdown that I've had to do each time

Hardware:

AMD Ryzen 3900x
32GB RAM
1TB boot SSD + a few mechanical drives + 500GB SSD
650W Power Supply
Windows 10 Pro

Any ideas on what it could be? Any other tests I should try?

What GPU did you have before the upgrade? Did you use DDU to uninstall the GPU driver and perform a clean install?

Can you partition and do a clean windows install with all fresh drivers and test if it still happens there?

Does it happen in safe mode when drivers are not loaded/using defauly windows drivers?

agree with using DDU to completely wipe all drivers and do fresh clean driver install

It may be a could idea to have a look at your power settings. See if something there makes a difference. Sometimes windows have trouble waking up.

I did use DDU. Its way too much work for it to be worth it (clean install windows) on a diff partition. I have not tried safe mode. I'll try it.

Its set to never sleep. When I come back, its frozen with the screen on when I turn on my monitor (I turn off the monitor if I'm not going to be around for a while). Never have issues coming back from hibernation which I do every night. I restart once a week usually.

I think that you should take an in depth look at your power settings before ruling them out as the cause of your woes. Getting freezes after idling is not happening by chance.

Have a look at the advanced settings, sometimes it's peripherals that cause issues. HD, PCIe, USB, LAN, all of them can cause your pc to hang coming out of idle. Especially if you have any outdated drivers or had any “quality” update.

does this have to do with a security software setting, if your cell phone get so far away(?)checked BT settings, for that matter?

So it seems like a couple settings have changed, but I fixed it. I disabled "USB selective suspend" which used to be disabled, but was enabled. Also PCI express Link state was on, but I turned that off. I didn't see anything else that I should change. Am I missing anything?

I do update my AMD/MOBO drivers and graphics card drivers regularly. Anything else I should do.

Only BT stuff I have is wireless headphones which are usually not connected and not connected at all when it freezes. I only have Malwarebytes, no updates for it at the moment. Cell phone is not connected to computer via BT
