Would Modern Humans Be In Natural History Museums Millions Of Years From Now?

(Moderator Shmee gave me permission to make this thread.)

I just got back from the natural history museum right next to USC, and it got my thinking, Millions of years from now would there be a section for "Homo-Sapiens"? Getting stared at by future humans.

I HIGHLY doubt that there will be humans millions of years from now. The history of most species on this planet does NOT extend that long!

The way we’re going, I highly doubt there will be much left living on the planet beyond bacteria…and cockroaches.

Well we stopped natural selection for humans so there will be no natural evolution of humans anymore so people should look the same even in millions of years unless we change the way we look ourselves by genetic manipulation, like make us smaller in size so we need fewer resources or make us more resistant to solar radiation or whatever.
But also the documentation (videos) of everything today is so detailed that nobody in the future will have to wonder how we looked like.
All of this, as mentioned by the people before me, is if we make it that long without any natural or self made catastrophes, I mean a large meteor hit is long overdue and the next ice age is on its way as well (or at least could be).

In whatever passes for a natural history museum at that point, most likely. It'll be very abbreviated, including basics of domicile construction, a mysterious presence of a fungus that doesn't exist outside our era (but is hypothesized to feed on some obscure ingredient we had that was near ubiquitous) as well as the theorized 'evolutionary path' from there, either to extinction if this is an alien museum, or to whatever version of homo sapiens are running it otherwise.

Ok but I’m not catching the fungus reference?

Ya. By that time we will potentially have a bunch of branch off species that develop in isolation.

WelshBloke pointed out, "I mean the dinosaurs were around for about 160 million years!" Quite correct BUT not ONE species of dinosaur. I'm sure paleontologists have identified well over a hundred species of dinos (anybody have the right number for that?) over that very long time period. And I do expect that more than one of those species lasted for over a million years. But did any one species even get to 10 million years?

I mean... horseshoe crabs.

There are probably some species of shark that might have made it.

I suspect we will accelerate our own evolution. Along with cybernetics. When peoples imaginary invisible super friends fail to save them or bean them up during the coming global catastrophes, genetic engineering will stop getting the stink eye. We'll be super cyborgs that can survive in much harsher conditions than now.

I highly doubt dolphins, sharks, snakes and crocodiles will waste their time building musuems.
