Sure, but there are other subsequent Zen releases, such as Zen7 etc.Zen 6 is probably almost finished.
Honestly I am not sure why AMD released ZEN 5 for PCs at all. They may have released some more interesting CPUs based on ZEN 4 in the meantime, as 7950X with two cache dies, etc.
I studied research methodology. I wrote clearly that you should support your claim as best you can.Logic fail. You make the claim, you supply the evidence. Veracity is irrelevant.
Perhaps ZEN5+ will be fixed ZEN5?Sure, but there are other subsequent Zen releases, such as Zen7 etc.
The question is if any of them will be based on Zen5?
Where Zen5+ will have architectural changes too? When would you expect that to be released? 6, 12, 24 months from now?Perhaps ZEN5+ will be fixed ZEN5?
Arrow Lake. Releasing early they thought they could grab some marketshare away from Intel because Core CPUs sell, even if they are turds like Core Ultra (Meteor Lake).Honestly I am not sure why AMD released ZEN 5 for PCs at all.
Your research methodology training is irrelevant here. Because MLID does not have valid sources 90% of the time.I studied research methodology. I wrote clearly that you should support your claim as best you can.
In reality and in non-research situations you sometimes simply cannot do it, for example journalists cannot reveal their sources sometimes.
It's as people here do not realize Intel is going from 10nm to 5nm with Arrow Lake. People are going to be shocked with the power efficiency of Arrow Lake that is primarily based on the 20A 5nm platform. With Zen 5 being a total flop for now. My prediction is there has to be a Zen 5+ next year with N3P silicon to counter Arrow Lake. Next year or early 2026 Intel has 18A that will last quite a few years.Arrow Lake. Unfortunately, they just gave more hope to people waiting for Arrow Lake that it will surpass Zen 5 in quite a few benchmarks. 9950X needed to beat 14900KS in EVERY benchmark, even if by 2%. It doesn't do that.

First we have to get X3D, and then if it’s much later after that it’ll be close to Zen6 in time.

The main question is will Arrow Lake be more power efficient than Zen 5. Intel will no longer have to juice their processors to achieve performance goals. N3P would be a very big efficiency boost for AMD.
It was not I who suggested there will be a Zen5+ .There is zero word on Zen5+ ATM and I don't expect that to chage. I was hoping we were done with runors and fake leaks.
How soon before zen 6 is released ?Zen 6 is probably almost finished.
Spring 2026 is likely judging by the previous release cadence. However, there is still the question of platform - staying on DDR5 or waiting on its successor. How soon before zen 6 is released ?
You want fixed Zen5 then get Strix Halo early next year. 😛To AMD employees who are also reading this thread.
I have seen various tests of the 9950x. After 2 years of work on ZEN 5, hundreds of changes and architecture improvements, it is obvious that in a hurry the engineers made a mistake somewhere and SOMETHING is seriously blocking the performance of this CPU. There is a bottleneck somewhere/something that effectively negates the potential of all these improvements in ZEN 5.
AMD Please find this ASAP and release an updated version as e.g. 9950X Extreme
THIS is necessary to ensure that all the effort and steam that went into creating ZEN 5 does not go to waste
Nah. It will get delayed. I can't expect AMD to be on time with anything these days. You want fixed Zen5 then get Strix Halo early next year. 😛
I wish you would start using the modern node names. RPL is on "Intel 7". Rumor is last I checked ARL will use 3N for higer end and Intel 20A for lower end chips. There is no "intel 5" and 20A is not "5nm".
Zne 5+ has been a popular idea since Zen 5 came out pretty crappy. The early ARL numbers aren't looking great though at least for ST. In MT Skymont seems to do well. I expect the 9800X3D will be the most popular when it comes out assuming AMD doesn't delay those too.

I guess one could say, HWUB found a way to unlock "free" performance on Ryzen CPUs?Taken from discord:

There's no Intel "7nm", and that's even more true for Intel "5nm". It's just some guesswork based on old roadmap namingCorrect me if I'm wrong but I remember I read it from somewhere that
intel 3 = intel 7 nm +
intel 20A = intel 5 nm
intel 18A = intel 5 nm +
Given that their HPC, DT, and mobile CCX seem to already have slight design differences, what's stopping them from using DT-specific macros for GR or, eg BEOL customization? And besides, I'm not sure if there's a functionality in Zen CPU that can't be tweaked.I thought about this and I think both the above points could be related to the L3 which is the actual SDF/SCF master and which is responsible for CCX to CCX traffic. L3 has a very important role in maintaining coherency across all cores.

Anyone tried it on Intel yet?I guess one could say, HWUB found a way to unlock "free" performance on Ryzen CPUs?
