Nice. I enjoy this place for what it is now. I'm guessing in the longer term it will probably be shut down as well. WIth the clickbait on YouTube and the noise of stock price and memes and drama on reddit, the discussion here is still worth reading for me.Per Ryan Smith's post on the front page, Future said they will maintain the existing site and forums. Just no more reviews or new content going forward. It seems that will be within the purview of Tom's Hardware (also owned by Future).
Sadly, I think it's just a matter of time now.Sad day for sure. How long will Future keep the forums?
Any suggestion as to where to migrate?Sadly, I think it's just a matter of time now.
If forums will get closed (really hope not), there's tom's hardware, techpowerup forums, but I have no clue how close they are to AT forums. Can't Future PLC just keep main AT website in a frozen state, supported by ad revenue? Somewhat works for Fandom and other websitesAny suggestion as to where to migrate?
Hot deal on monitors from Buy.com that did not get fulfilled. It's from the last century iirc. People were losing their minds over it.F.
What is the "wounded monitor children" that Ryan Smith talks about?
That is the most likely path forward. Kyle still has HardOCP forums up for example. If forums will get closed (really hope not), there's tom's hardware, techpowerup forums, but I have no clue how close they are to AT forums. I was rudely reminded of how poor the journalism at Tom's is when I looked at their NH-D15 G2 review. They explicitly remark there's a rattling noise and they think there's a defect, and if it was any other brand of cooler they would contact the mfg about it and get a replacement before moving forward with publishing the review. But because it's Noctua, they will not.Think how sad it is that a site with such a terrible reputation as Tom's garnered over the years is the one chosen to continue. When Anand was considered the most trustworthy guy in the game. Makes zero sense if you know the history of PC tech sites. Hell, Tom's has been constantly getting roasted for shilling to this day. Absolute madness.
I checked too! Feeling real sad! :'(I quickly checked If It was not April Fools' Day.
It's not.
Hopefully the forum will go on.
