Choked up a little this morning. What a ride it's been....
Reddit is a crappy alternative. Up/downvote system is cancer.reddit.com - Uhhh, that's all.

Yup, it induces group think and encourages karma farming.Reddit is a crappy alternative. Up/downvote system is cancer.
Yep. Tom's isn't that good. I'm pretty sure many here won't like it there. We get good traffic here. Especially since we have made the new cycle frequently and get attribution in youtube vids. I surmise there is a strong enough financial incentive to keep us around. They have to know most of us would not go to Tom's. I will not be associated with that place. I'll spend more time at TPU. It's a bit more wild and woolly there, but when you don't have to police it, it is strictly for the LULZ.
Like all tech forums there are cool and highly knowledgeable members there. It's the main site itself that spoils it for me.Yep. Tom's isn't that good. I'm pretty sure many here won't like it there.
Most are free lance now anyways I think. The staff had to know the writing was on the wall *bad pun* It's obvious that the doc executed an exit strategy. I should think the rest were already tuning up their resumes and leaning on industry contacts/networking.No knowledge of how it would work finances-wise (I expect it wouldn't work at all) but I remember that Chips & Cheese wanted to extend itself with new writers. Could be at least a step out for some of the AT writers?
"the doc" meaning Ian Cutress? Most are free lance now anyways I think. The staff had to know the writing was on the wall *bad pun* It's obvious that the doc executed an exit strategy. I should think the rest were already tuning up their resumes and leaning on industry contacts/networking.

Any suggestion as to where to migrate?
Tom's. Has always been between inconsistencies, incompetence and outright 'I will please A or B 'cos they pay well '.I was rudely reminded of how poor the journalism at Tom's is when I looked at their NH-D15 G2 review. They explicitly remark there's a rattling noise and they think there's a defect, and if it was any other brand of cooler they would contact the mfg about it and get a replacement before moving forward with publishing the review. But because it's Noctua, they will not.
Mind you, 1 month prior to this Tom's ran an article about the well-known rattle issue plaguing the newly release NH-D15 G2 coolers, so they should have clearly known it was a defect that is recognized by noctua and contacted them for a statement regarding a possible fix, and potentially even received a prototype of whatever the fix is to use for review testing.
Everything is better than reddit.I like the Arstechnica Forums. Definitely better than Reddit.
Never. Simple.Yep. Tom's isn't that good. I'm pretty sure many here won't like it there.
Read this forum for years and the cheap X58 Xeon thread is what got me to join and start posting. Sad to see this news today.Oh man... The day I track down my lost Anand login, they shut down the place.
Thanks for all the overclocked DDR memories and X58 Forever bumperstickers!
