Money isn't the issue. It's seeing that much get emptied from my account in one go!

Will try in October after the last installment of some RAM/SSD is paid. I think the stupid company offering the installments refuses to let people have multiple installments in parallel.

For good reason. If you are putting multiple items on installments, they view that as you not being able to actually afford those items and therefore higher risk. There isn't much you should be paying for over time other than a car or home. Certainly not a CPU for a few hundred dollars. My 2c.

Imagine being that guy literally every day. That's me in my current job, for the past 16 years...

When I uncover other people's mistakes, the issue gets hushed up after a while, no matter the severity.

But when it's me, I'm threatened with loss of my job. And the ones whose mistakes I uncover, they've mostly been promoted over me.

If what you say is true, you should've left a long time ago. Are you a masochist?

I'm kinda unemployable coz I have bad social skills, can't deal with morons with little knowledge and lots of crap coming out of their mouths and oh, I do phenomenally bad in interviews!

Remember John Carmack responding to questions about when Doom 3 will get released? "When it's done".

That's kinda my response to bosses when they say how long it would take. You can imagine they don't like that answer. Only reason I'm not fired yet is that I tend to come up with solutions the other 300 people in the company can't

I find that hard to believe! You're extremely sociable here on ATF! I've been here a long time lurking everyday but I rarely post. In real life you'd find me in a corner somewhere at a party all alone where I only speak if spoken to. Otherwise I kinda ignore everyone and do my thing...

I'm the same way

Don't even attend office parties and social events unless it's mandatory. Considering we have at least six events a month (almost all by marketing), that's a lot of them I'm glad I've missed

I bought Core i9-13900K earlier this year. I haven't had any issues on games but I don't play a lot of games. Is there any list of games that mentioned on this issue?
Games that expose the instability are mentioned here:
May not be exhaustive list but it's mostly UE5 games or any game giving you out of memory error message when you know for sure that you can't be running out of video memory like on a GPU with 12GB or more. Just install BIOS with microcode 0x129 and if you still get repetitive errors or crashes, don't go about changing any mobo settings or limiting the CPU in any way. That's just wrong. RMA the CPU or get a refund and then go with Ryzen. If it doesn't JUST work, you shouldn't be wasting your time getting it to work. You paid full price for it. Intel didn't donate it to you.

Still hit or miss as to CS experience -

This dude is having a bad time -

Wish I was this lucky, 14900k, constant crashes to BSOD, couldn’t even finish their troubleshooting CPU tool without crashes. Support asked me to run their diagnostic tool. Asked me to send them a copy of the logs after it ran. They just kept saying to resubmit the results, but because the CPU would just crash during math tests the application would only log so much and ended up taking weeks if not months collectively to find out the issue.

-$550.

To top it off, the whole process was happened while moving homes, wasn’t able to send it back to the vendor within warranty time due to how long the troubleshooting took.

Is there any indicator that the 1.55v limit has fixed anyone's stability problems? Or fixed anything at all?
Consensus = too soon. Hopefully Wendell or someone is running a Minecraft server with a couple raptor using the MC update and will report back in a few months. That was evidently a good way to make them unstable inside of 6 months? pre-patch.

Comment from VCZ: "Simply file an RMA request" aging like fine milk

Large HK distributor runs out of Core i9-14900K replacement CPUs, offers cash refunds instead

Instead, users are being told that Synnex will issue a refund of HK$4,200 (around $537 USD). The media outlet reports that several users have already received such a message, indicating that this is not an isolated incident and likely represents a new policy for affected users.

This truly allows INTEL to enjoy the privilege of sitting on their asses and not taking the problem seriously when the issues were raised as early as January 2024 by users. They allowed their active CPUs to "acceledegrade" for over a year before even bothering to investigate. If we assume they sold 10 million CPUs and even just 2 million users used those CPUs intensively enough to cause acceledegrading, that's at least 2 million CPUs that they don't make a dime on! Imagine the losses even in this "estimated" scenario.

Well done, Intel! You have truly earned your current low share price and I hope you see some more dips so you make it a point to get rid of all the smug fat asses that helped you get to where you are today and here's to breaking your all time share price record low of $18.50!

Death to Intel fabs! (May they be reborn as Federal Fabs of the USA!)

It has become a Greek tragedy. Intel's own people have been telling users to keep filing the RMA over and over until they get action taken. Then the owners have to waste more time with email exchanges that can take weeks or more because they keep getting ghosted due to high volume. Next they need to jump through hoops, and then maybe get a replacement or refund. Taking even more time and often a hold charge on their credit card.

The lack of stock on some of the SKUs has been going on since the word spread about the defective CPUs a couple of months ago. Obviously at that time, 1000s of RMA requests started being filed. The i9s are far and away the most impacted, from reading around; also for obvious reasons.

I read owners state they are pushing for refunds and buying AMD. Most of them won't be going back to Intel any time soon either. Arrow Lake will never sell in the numbers it could have due to this major FUBAR of products and services.

Not acting on the oxidation issue properly back in 2023, and still having affected CPUs on the shelves at that time too. Then throwing tray after tray of i9s at data center clients raising hell, was another domino falling. As once the scandal blew up, and the mass RMA requests flooded in, there was less stock for impacted owners.

I don't get trying to let pushups Pat off the hook either. He is the genius that decided the fabs were the future. They were going to kick TSMC out of the top spot. How's that going?

Crikey. After a bad experience, and successful resolution finally happening, a supervisor told this owner they are completely out of 14th gen CPUs. 💀 It's an i7 which is even more surprising. Seems depending on where you live you may or may not get a replacement CPU. If you take the refund you have to decide what to do from there since you have the board already. In this case they are buying 12th gen and selling it on. I would not give Intel back a single dime. Sell the board for what I could get and cut my losses.

To be honest, after reading this mess, I would get the refund, sell the motherboard and go AMD for a few years. Why invest in 4-6 year old technology with no path forward .
I would get a new replacement CPU, set reasonable frequency limits that will prevent degradation and enjoy its great performance for the next few years...

AM5 is a nearly dead platform anyway....

Huh? AM5 will likely out live LGA1851 and its been out for 2 years already.
Do you really believe that?

I believe that 9 out of 10 AMD enthusiasts would welcome AM6 soon if it meant significantly better CPUs.

BTW I shortly tested AM5 and beside that RAM training I hated that tiny and thick heatspreader with paste traps.

Considering AMD has said that they are supporting AM5 through 2027 at a minimum, yes I do. They are still releasing CPUs on AM4 and AM5 has been out for 2 years.

Ah yes, RAM training. Upon first boot it's annoying, but after that what's the issue? My PC boots up just fine, day in day out. And in less than 30 seconds. I don't see an issue there. And if the heat spreader is what has you dissing AM5 well that's your problem. Nobody else has an issue with "paste traps", lol. 🤣
