Hello

I have some ''random'' old system setup
I am looking for Graphic Card Upgrade

My system is the following:

OS : Windows 10 Pro x64 (64bit)

Motherboard : Intel® Desktop Board DP55WG

CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67 GHz

Power Supply : CHIEFTEC ,Model No : CFT - 650 - 14CS ,(650W)

RAM : 4 GB ( 1 x 4 GB Module ) | DDR3 1600MHz ( PC3-12800 / PC3-12800U ) | DDR3 DIMM ( 240-Pin ) | Non-ECC UDIMM ( Unbuffered DIMM ) | 1.5V or 1.35V

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 (1GB)

What is compatible with this
I would like some 4 GB video,be able to stream 4K

Cheapest option for $100 would be an A380 6GB. I use one for video conversions and it's quick. I went with the Sparkle one for lower power use.

My answer right now is to tell you to wait a couple months. We might see a launch of next gen cards still this year, which should result in either price drops on existing cards, or being able to get a lower tier card with better performance and higher performance/watt (possibly higher performance per $, but that hasn't happened since the last decade).

But really with a system that age, a 3060Ti would probably be more than what the CPU, PCI-E bus, and PSU can handle.

Also, for streaming 4k, you will probably need HDMI 2.1 and/or HDCP 2.2 certified outputs and HDCP 2.2 certified display.

What's the use case? It hardly makes any sense putting any money into a 15 year old system, but you could target something like a GeForce 970 or 1050 Ti. I wouldn't spend the $50 people are asking on eBay, but maybe it's worth $35 if you get really lucky??

Modern cards from the past 5 years would be a waste of money; Intel Arc needs ReBAR to function well.

That is why I suggested the 3060Ti with it's HDMI 2.1 output. That said, I'm not sure if the CPU will pass requirements (it is probably on the edge and you won't really know until you try).

Sure, but that's vague enough. That's a lot of VRAM just to stream on YouTube? And as you pointed out, you'll have to be mindful of video outputs depending on what display you're going to.

All my 4k viewing is on my TV, so I'd rather spend $40 on a Roku streamer that'll last a number of years than on a 15 year old PC. It's just a "cautionary note"; OP has to decide for themself if it makes sense.

The GTX 950 has hardware support through VP9. Should be able to find one cheap.

But that will fail on Netflix for 4k (I am assuming Netflix since Amazon Prime Video does not stream 4k to PC's and Apple is well, Apple and 720p on Windows). Even Nvidia says so:

The above looks like you might be able to get away with a 1050, not the 3060Ti I mentioned. I don't think it will work to a TV with a 1050, but a monitor connected via display port should work. If going to a TV, I believe you need HDMI 2.1, as HDMI 2.0 did not always support HDCP 2.2 (only some did).

I have posted that Netflix info here in the past myself. Let's just say I agree with Louis Rossman and would source transcoded streams, and leave it at that.

The 1050 is a good suggestion if it can be had cheap enough. Otherwise alternate streams or the Roku type of solution makes more sense than throwing money at a dino PC.

Or from PC to other devices over WiFi or home LAN?

You can buy 4x4GB of used DDR3 1600 off Ali for like US$13 shipped, so no reason to not upgrade the ram if you are planning on keeping it.

On the other hand, 7th gen and above can output 4K from the integrated graphics. If you're really just wanting to stream 4k video you can probably pick up some 7th gen i5 office system with 8GB RAM and an SSD for under $100 that will run circles around your existing system and will probably still game better than a GT 430.

There isn't a single part I can think of that's compatible with this antique.
