well, to be fair, Skyrim has seen some pretty damn massive total conversion mods. But, it's something that very few people have the opportunity to create.
And - knowing full well that i sound like Old Man Yells At Cloud - Neverwinter Nights was better. It was better because anyone with a handful of free afternoons and a decent idea could write an adventure module.
Yeahh i know that even with content creation tools, today creating a module would be harder. But, not impossible.
Think of .. whatsthename .. Enderal. It took years, from a large group of contributors, to make it playable.
As an old P&P aficionado, i want to see the creativity, the ideas that the random nobodies have in these games. Because *yawn* for every Dark Elf Anti-Paladin that has to slay a god adventure you see, sometimes you'll find some weird, quirky, innovative module with some really genuine touches of genius in the storytelling.
And you'll NEVER find this in the official adventures. Stuff just *has* to be mid and vanilla to be considered a viable commercial product. Instead i want to see the "whu the f*** not" modules written for the fun of it. I know from IRL experience that RPG players can get far, far more creative than anything i've seen made by Bioware, even in the good days.
