Oddly enough, the Ecoboost has a giant trunk lol.

I'd most likely never do off-roading or towing in my situation. Range anxiety is really my only concern. The Lucid has a 410-mile range & supposedly the CT will have a 470-mile option with the battery pack next year...but for $116,000. Sort of loses the appeal for me at that price point LOL.

They seemed to have fixed a lot of the bugs on late-model Mach-E's, but I'm just not interested in them personally. The appeal of the CT was the mega-battery, plus I could outfit the trunk with a Decked system for additional work tools, but the current pricing & lack of available advertised range doesn't make sense for me. Surprisingly, the modern Ford traction system has gotten me through every winter so far!

I'm not in any rush to go electric. My current rental doesn't have any charging infrastructure unfortunately, so I'd be entirely dependent on public stations or client plugs. I just don't want to build my day around having to stop & wait to charge & we all know that the advertised battery ranges don't match up with the real world, haha. Sometimes I'm in the car for 5 or 6 hours depending on the location I'm going to, traffic, weather, etc. & the CT takes 90 minutes for a full charge at a v3 Supercharger. Seems like going backwards to eat up the time in my day charging, pay more than triple the cost, and still be 100 miles less than advertised...
My bad....I think we have actually had this conversation before but yeah if you can't charge at home then an EV makes a lot less sense because like you mentioned L3 charging is just to cost prohibitive and inconvenient.

Anyway, I guess I'm just passionate about EVs ever since buying one so proselytizing about how great they are to anyone who will listen is kinda my jam.

I meant the EB Mustang. It has an oddly deep trunk lol. I can fit servers no problem!

I've never heard anyone refer to their Mustang as an "Ecoboost", hence my confusion...

What year, how many miles on it, any issues? Might be time for a new convertible and its slim pickings for choices. Used S550?

2018, no issues, I think 55k miles. Stick-shift. Royal crimson (red/purple color-shift), very unique color! Only real complaint is that it only gets 24 MPG. I'm a model-specific person & REALLY like the S550 design. Don't like the Mach-E, Dark Horse, S197, etc. designs at all. Zero regrets not getting the V-8! LOVE the turbo! Highly recommend getting it ceramic-coated!

Are you referring to the Maverick?

No trunk in the Maverick - Ridgeline & Santa Cruz has the trunk in their beds but the Maverick does not.
How are you liking your Maverick so far? I remember you mentioning the purchase but I don't remember all the details.

2024 XLT Hybrid with Copilot360 & Hitch in Carbon Grey Because I placed the order in 2022 I ended up with the price protection so got $3,200 off MSRP when I picked it up in March. ~$30,100 including TTL.

I wish I got it in Hot Pepper Red as its orangey in sun and got the spray in bed-liner but these were known limitations in 2022, who knew Ford would get their shit together in 2024. The Carbon grey and carbon wheels and black trim make it very monotone and really looks good. It will age well! I added front 35% ceramic tint as well.

Have ~5300 miles on it so far but its been a busy summer of trips and extra commuting that is not the norm.

~39mpg is the average since new, but short trips are ~45mpg. Freeway driving at 80mph is ~37mpg. It's easy to park and maneuver in our tiny Silicon Valley & SF parking lots.

It's definitely a budget vehicle but is super comfy, quieter than expected, and drive quite well. I just wish I could have gotten in before all the price increases and reduction in options.

Camping in Morro Bay

Excels in Bay Area Traffic on our way to see Limp Bizkit & Corey Feldman - 2hrs 11-minutes to go 63-miles!

Awesome over view, thanks for sharing. That's a good looking Mav!

At least you got some price protection. Word is Ford is not going to offer it on the Maverick for the 25MY.

You should check out www.mavericktruckclub.com. It's a great community focused around the Mav with a lot of great members who like to share info and ideas. I've been a member there since '21 and it's a great place to hang out. Warning though....just like this place it can be a little rough around the edges at first.

Anyway, hope you have many more miles of smiles with your Mav!

Who knew that a 800HP 4.5 tonne that can reach 100km/h in 3s can eat rubber?

Tesla has a pretty bad reputation in general on tires. A lot of them only get 20k to 30k due to the weight & speed. Some people have to pay $2,000 to get all 4 replaced!

Looks like Rivian has the same issue:

"Can't afford the gas" is now "can't afford the tires", haha!

I mean a heavy vehicle with tons of torque is going to eat tyres.
I'm not a Cybertruck fan but thats just going to happen no matter how well made or not the vehicle is.

This is just a general issue that comes with bigger and heavier vehicles (however, the rapid acceleration can also contribute). They'll eat through tires (and all that particulate emission becomes local pollution to breathe in... yay!).

Seems to me EVs are starting to show themselves as not actually being economical after all. If you have to change tires that often you're basically paying more money than someone that owns a gas vehicle.

the cybertruck is a 7000lb vehicle with ~600-850hp. of course it will eat tires, especially if you flooring it at every opportunity.

the tire wear on a chevy bolt is going to be remarkably more pedestrian and typical of sedans.

Umm, he didn't secure the load to the truck?
Yeah this is a truck owner problem in general. I think the though process is "Well, I'm not going far so it should be fine.".

Ha, yeah right. My business is cady corner from a Menards hardware store and I shit you not 2-3 times a week there is some jack ass out in the middle of the intersection or road picking up their building supplies.

I've seen it all. 2x4's, 4x8 sheets of plywood, sheets of dry wall, ect you name it all being picked up off a busy intersection/road because the operator was to stupid to strap the load to the truck before leaving the yard.

That and it's synthetic decking. The stuff is slicker than greased cat shit, I once lost a load of it that was tied down on a lumber rack. You really have to crank down on the ties, almost to the point of damaging the material. The guy in the cyber truck never had a chance as that vehicle isn't equipped to haul long material.
