Pick any subject, and if the egghead scientists say something that the libs think is important, bet the farm that so-called "Conservatives" will be against it.

After all, what is more "financially conservative" than saving some money now only to pay a shit-ton more later to fix the damages of Climate Change. One might almost get the impression they are selfish FYGM people who are childless cat ladies (because who cares about the future if you don't have kids, right?)

Or they don't believe climate change is man made. I know a couple who think that's the case.
Yes there are definitely still climate deniers left but I think far fewer than there used to be. I mean the evidence has been overwhelming for decades now but it seems conservatives have finally largely come to accept reality.

Again though, the downside is they are using their own past wrongness to justify continued bad policy going forward. They could use a big dose of humility as they have discredited themselves utterly on this issue.

It’s like talking to a squirrel, they are all over the place. It’s deflect, deflect, deflect. They are too busy trying to get out their next talking point to listen to any counterpoint.
Yep. I am saving so much mental energy not interacting with these disgusting people anymore past one reply or two at most - not just here but on all my online journeys - every day I feel much better and more healthy.

If people are still voting for Trump after the past 9 years of him, they are just pieces of shit that are so far gone, there is no point in speaking with them. They are the exact same as all the worst populations in history and the present who supported and support the worst authoritarian evil movements.

Fuck them all.

Perhaps I misunderstood the sequence here: "Thank you for expressing your own. A healthy mind would not be bothered by the same unconscious bigotry....." Since you started addressing me, I assumed you were continuing to reference me, but you had switched to Musk in the next sentence. I misapprehended that. All good.
If you had not expressed yourself I would not have known what to emphasize. Appreciate being given that chance.

Physics says they’re wrong.

There’s about 6 billion A-bombs worth of extra heat in the oceans. It didn’t come from volcanism and the sun didn’t suddenly get much warmer (in fact it was a tiny bit quieter than usual over the last 15 years).

Satellites show a small delta between how much energy arrives from the sun (a little more) vs how much leaves the Earth (a little less). And that delta is due to changes in atmospheric composition. CO2 and other greenhouses are increasing proportionally to how much fossil fuels we extract and burn.

So tell your friends to publish if they’ve got the physics on why the above is all wrong and get themselves a million bucks and a Nobel prize.

Climate deniers is a stupid term. Pretty much everyone that made it through sixth grade knows that the climate has changed radically over time. Some folks don't accept that a two hundredths of one percent increase in CO2 can cause a global crises, that's hardly deigning that it's changing.

Amusingly this is one of the rungs on the climate denialism ladder, the idea that 'climate always changes, therefore what we're seeing now isn't a big deal'. It is a deliberate misrepresentation of the climate change position though, which is that the rate of change in our climate is unprecedented at least in the history of humanity, and this is of course true.

Also, your position inadvertently proves my point as to how conservative politics has reorganized to oppose climate change legislation when their previous denialist position became untenable. Remember, not that long ago conservatives were saying that global warming was bullshit because the scientific consensus predicted global cooling in the 1970's. (it did not)

This is another rung on the climate change denial ladder. The first run is deny it's happening, the second rung is to say that it's natural and therefore nothing to worry about, and the third rung is that while it's happening and not natural it won't be that bad. (the people you mention are on rung #3) The final rung is that it is happening, it is bad, but now it's too late to do anything about it. Lots of conservatives are jumping on to this last point now as apparently anything is better than admitting the liberals were right all along, haha.

Ah, people that think just because they know a little science, they know all the science. Like the boneheads that derp-derp about "basic biology".

Seems to me you have taken a step in the right direction. Your angry efforts to argue against them is exhausting and ineffective. But there is always hope of say fskimo if right and the fact of climate change is seen by more and more as factual. He argues they need more humility. But to me that is the issue.

I have argued over and over that conservatism and lack of humility go hand in hand, that conservatives deny reality when it hurts their feelings, when, in other words it offends their egos, in other words again, when it challenges their faith, their sacred cow beliefs.

So how would you expect them to react to belittlement? How will somebody geared up to defend the sacred react to being told they are shit to defend what isn’t sacred but shit. I wish you good luck with that.

What you have wound up doing here is what they do in my opinion, defend your sacred belief they are shit by considering them too worthless to redeem. Just another shit sacred cow in my opinion.

If you could admit for a second that you are in as much need of humility as they are you could maybe entertain for a second the notion of a spectrum disorder. We are all prisoners to varying degrees of attachment to various sacred cows of various levels of verifiability.

Seeing that way would imply that if you give up on others as being worthless you are giving up hope for a part of yourself, that which is like what you hate. Nobody can protect you from self abuse. You can’t run from yourself. You are notshit for feeling as you do, but you can lessen your frustration. What sense does it make to hate others for having a disorder you have too. It takes humility to see we all walk in the same shoes.

I think we need to strive to be kind to and to assure others the world is fine without their sacred cows and they will be fine too.

To read anybody’s mind is always easier when you know your own. Many people escape their own self denial and experience a sense of profound relief.

They just have to figure out to be for it without it costing anything.

All you need is to look at the isotopic ratios of the carbon currently in the atmosphere. The isotopic meaning the different type of carbon isotopes tell you what is being burned. The vast majority says it's fossil carbon. Meaning it's either from coal or petroleum.
