Get tagged and bagged and perp walked for the cameras.
Perp walks in general are very masturbatorial. They should be illegal.Publicizing a perp walk of an 11 year old is pretty horrendous. What is wrong with these people.
I'm all for a vigorous law enforcement response to threats of mass violence and am totally on board with arresting this kid but parading a child around for the cameras is fucked up. Let's see the parents' photos though, absolutely.
In a nation of mass shootings at schools, done by kids. Desperate times call for desperate measures.Publicizing a perp walk of an 11 year old is pretty horrendous. What is wrong with these people.
To start with, the child and all guardians who interact with them probably need mental health treatment. Rare for kids to exhibit behaviors like this in a vacuum.Saw this on a feed earlier.
Got me thinking, what IS the proper response to a child making a terrorist threat?
At some point they become old enough to follow through and make good on that promise.
So then, what do we do with them?
I saw arguments that this sort of scare tactic is not effective when the kid's behavior is already this far gone. But I am sure it's not zero percent effective..... Still, it bothers me to know it would only scare off those who were not serious. We need a methodology, an in-depth psyche eval to help determine the risk - and the necessary program that could lead to actual rehab.
It is the sort of thing. If we are too soft, what do other nations do, what are their solutions to child and teenage crimes? Thinking of the extreme opposite of us, Russia and China for example. Perhaps from their methods, we could find a middle ground that respects human rights and dignity, without flat out ignoring the problem until after a gun is used.
Perp walks do nothing but publicize the crime and criminal, and maybe ruin an innocent person's life.In a nation of mass shootings at schools, done by kids. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
We are incapable of dealing with access to guns, so we try to deal with the criminal element instead.
Too often the shooters made cries for help that resulted in nothing.
I'm all for arresting the kid if he poses a credible threat. I'm also for arresting the parents if they've been willfully negligent somehow. In a nation of mass shootings at schools, done by kids. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

LOL, so no actual desperate measures, just further beating on the kids who need/needed help.In a nation of mass shootings at schools, done by kids. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I honestly can’t say I disagree with this. Shame is a powerful motivator. The sheriff said last Friday that beginning Monday, they will begin coming after the parents of any juveniles threatening school shootings online.
“And starting Monday, your little cherub? We’re going to start publishing his face and doing perp walks with him when we take him into custody, and then we’re going to show pictures of you, the parents. Because you don’t want to raise your kid, Sheriff Chitwood is going to raise them,” he said in the video. “Parents, get your kids in line, or your checkbook’s gonna hurt and your pride’s gonna hurt. I promise.”
The parent part sounds good to me. I mean, look at the photos of the weapons. I know the guns are airsoft, but still, they look real. Why would parents allow all of that.
The kid part might be feasible as well but perhaps with the face blurred.

I'm not for the public humiliation of 11 year olds though. I don't see how that serves the public interest.
Not really expecting to see shame move the needle on what's clearly a mental health issue, for the parents and the child.I honestly can’t say I disagree with this. Shame is a powerful motivator.
