In ongoing Republican pre-election rigging over the last few weeks: Cornel West in particular appearing on ballots as a spoiler solely due to Republican work.

Republicans who have been funding both Cornel West and Jill Stein to be on all the swing state ballots - including helping gather signatures to put them on the ballot - have been vigorously defending them in court, at no cost to the West or Stein campaigns. And I'm sure Republicans will start running more swing-state ads for them as well.

- In Georgia, Bryan Tyson, a partner at the Election Law Group, represented the state Republican Party as it tried to keep West on the ballot. And on Thursday, Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger overruled an administrative law judge to place West and Stein on the ballot.
- North Carolina, Phil Strach, a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association, successfully challenged in court a North Carolina State Board of Elections decision to bar West from the ballot.
- In Pennsylvania, a lawyer with long-standing ties to Republican candidates and causes, unsuccessfully argued in August for West to stay on the ballot.

Putin appreciates the GOP's support of his candidate Stein.

Ken Paxton doubling down on Texas voter suppression, now suing to block San Antonio from mailing voter registration forms to unregistered citizens, and threatening Houston as well to intimidate them into not doing the same. Paxton has previously in 2020 succeeded in blocking Houston from reaching out to register citizens, as Texas deliberately remains one of the most difficult states in the nation to actually register to vote.

Mailing out registration forms to unregistered voters is something that should be good for elections. Unless you are trying to suppress turnout.

Just as a follow-up, in addition to succeeding in Georgia, a former Trump attorney is now leading the appeal to the Supreme Court to put Jill Stein back on Nevada's ballot, this time actually working on behalf of the Green Party (although once again, apparently at no expense to the Stein campaign) to help out Trump.

Will Jill and Cornel bring home the election for Trump? They very well might.

I wish I could say I am surprised, but I have been expecting much worse out of them.

Arizona republicans, 7 weeks before election, suing now to de-register 5% of the registered voters in state (100,000 voters) that have all been registered to vote since 1996 - unless they go to voter registration office with birth certificate to prove citizenship before the election. Oh, and Arizona requires voters to register at least 30 days before election... can't fix this after first week of October.

So IF you see the news, and IF you recall you first registered before 1996, and IF you have a birth certificate handy, you have about 3 weeks from announcement of this new lawsuit to show up at voter registration office with that proof of citizenship (presuming the lawsuit succeeds).

All this because a search of voter registrations found precisely 1 lawful permanent resident, who is ineligible to vote, incorrectly listed on the voter rolls (he has never voted).

Oh, and there are more Republicans than Democrats that will be removed from the voter rolls in this attempted voter purge, go figure. Technically this only purges them from local/state elections, the supreme court previously banned them from purging voters for Federal races on this basis.

"Pennsylvania mail-in ballots with flawed dates on envelopes can be thrown out, court rules"

Based on recent Pennsylvania elections, more than 10,000 ballots in this year's general election might be thrown out over bad or missing envelope dates, which could be enough to swing the presidential race. Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes make it the largest prize among the seven swing states.
Be careful when filling out your mail in ballot in PA. This is going to hurt dems more than the fascists.

Gotta love how the date that the person who mails the ballot in is more important than the postmark date from the USPS.

Also doesn’t even matter if the ballot is returned before Election Day. If the handwritten date on the ballot envelope is missing or otherwise incorrect, the ballot is now excluded.

I figured that it didn't matter based on what I had posted.

Republicans are sticklers for rules [but only when it will benefit them to have them strictly and idiotically enforced].

A nice example is how they managed to get Kennedy off the NC ballots, despite having missed the deadline.

Any real numbers on the effects. I don't like anything the impedes voting but how significant is this.

During the April primary this year, 4,400 mail-in ballots were rejected by counties specifically for date issues. Given general election tends to get more than double the turn-out, perhaps 10,000 votes at risk. And in 2020, 65% of mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania were from Democrats.

So, roughly speaking, the Pennsylvania court just handed Trump a head start of +3,000 votes for November in PA, before voting even started.
