I guess you've never met Bernie Sanders?The only people who claim to be undecided are Republican voters. I have never in my life met a Democrat who claimed to be "independent" or "undecided". Every person who claims that is lost definitely a conservative and has voted for Republicans consistently. I don't know why they claim that they are independent, but they do. So if there are a slew of "independents" leaning towards voting against Trump, that's good news.
Splitting via congressional district is stupid as hell. Both Maine and Nebraska should switch back to winner take all... After the current election. It's just another way to further gerrymander the EC, we've just been lucky these are the only two states that do it and it usually cancels out. All he wants to do is influence people (and in a lot of circumstances get their money). But never all people, he couldn't care less. He always figures a ton of people hate him, but he tries not to think about them. They are like in his peripheral vision but he doesn't glance to see who they are. He'll hammer away at people whose self confidence is weak with anything he thinks might be effective . There are millions of such people.

I am an independent, always have been, always will be. I have never voted for an R at the federal level. I am an independent because I don't believe you should make party affiliation part of your identity, that is how we end up in a situation like we are currently with the GOP. There are definitely independents that split votes or swing back and forth.

The rule is that the polling locations must make a total count of the paper ballots on election day; it doesn't seem they have to hand-tabulate the results. Still onerous, though.
Each county must complete 3 independent hand counts of the number of ballots. If you're in rural MAGA land, that may be only 5,000 or so ballots, which is feasible. But in Atlanta (Fulton County), that's well over 500,000 ballots to hand count, three times. Oh, and if any discrepancy between the three, have to start over and recount again, or the Republican MAGA board will have an excuse to try to have all the votes from the urban areas thrown out.Hopefully it doesn't hold up in court, but the headline is a clickbaity.

(Edit: Getting 3 truly independent manual counts of 500,000 objects has near 0 chance of coming out the same each time. And that's without even getting into the additional ballot security required to supervise the process, to avoid breaking chain of custody requirements for the ballots.)
