I hate bicycle seats to the point where I want to take an axe to them.

Never sat on a comfortable bicycle seat. It's like they want you to be miserable while riding or expect you to keep your arse up in the air and bouncing up and down as you paddle.

it took a while but a combination of yoga, finding the right seat, and butt padding.

I'm 100% sold on the seat. After finding what works for me, I fixed all my complaints. Yoga helped with getting my hips flexible enough to plant my sit bones on the seat.

Road bike (all my bikes have been road bikes), 12 speed. Miyata triple butted frame. Used to sport 2 baskets, I eliminated the front one. Back is a front basket adapted to back by bolting to a Pletcher Rack. I ride 1 3/8" tires, still 27", I suppose I can adapt it to 700c but haven't bothered. I have done all my own repairs for decades except for one or two times.

I used to ride into the hills (800' elevation) daily but had to stop due to hand numbness from carpal tunnel, but just had surgery (both hands) so that may be a thing of the past, knock on wood. Recently, just use the bike for commuting in the city. I'm a really safe rider. The bike feels like a part of my body. I ride safe. Pedal clips always.

Mine has been parked for a while. It was my daily commuter, on the car to the train station, then ride in Seattle to work.
Rock hopper Pro 21" frame.

It has the fork lock to take out the bounce on a climb. I put 44 street slicks on it for the city. It has fenders and a rear rack on it now.

like that... esp. dipping top tube, my bike's horizontal top tube makes me nervous, i've fallen before.

my bike's frame busted at juncture of top tube and headtube. i have it duct taped, sqeaks like a mofo. new bike on shopping list, need to research. maybe can be welded, no idea. meantime was still riding, it's a miyata road bike w/ 27" 1 3/8 tires, rack and basket on back.

And I would not be able to reach the handlebars without severely arching my back and then being bedridden for a few weeks!

But that's a secondary consideration.

How to get on that high a seat and actually secure my butt on it is the primary one!

I live in an urban wasteland of bad drivers here in the SF Bay Area, South Bay.
Bike trails are often clogged by folks walking 3 or 4 across, dogs on long leashes, and children meandering. Great for toodling along on my Electra Townie or riding in places like Santa Cruz.

Coastal mountains have the Fast & Furious zipping by doing 90+mph.

So most of my riding is on the trusty Bike+ from Peloton!
