I saw it in my library catalog on Sunday, but it was gone by the time I could get to the library on Monday night.
Nor stories of necrophilia with bears (the now infamous photo of RFK Jr and worm with the bear corpse has his fly unzipped...), and not even side stories of gratuitous mutilation of carcassesNope, but it will be the standard politician book. A little pre-emptive damage control by getting some potentially embarrassing stories out there early, stories to humanize the person, some light policy, and a generally optimistic tone. It's the setup for whatever she does when her term as gov is over.
I don't expect it to contain stories of dog murder though.
"Big Gretch" is kind of a funny nickname for an attractive middle aged woman.
Sounds more like a mean aunt.
I can't recall the last time I borrowed a physical book from the library. Ebooks are too convenient, and Overdrive (now Libby) is the de facto standard for most American public libraries.
This title is pretty new, so there is a long wait list currently. YMMV, how Overdrive charges libraries is problematic but that's a separate topic.
It's not cynical, it's expected at this point. Those with presidential aspirations on the GOP side do the same thing. Not to sound cynical or anything, but she’s literally checking off boxes on the playbook for every big (D) Democrat with future presidential aspirations.
No Obama without “The Audacity of Hope” making it to Oprah’s book club.
No Biden without “Promise Me, Dad” debuting at #1 on the NYT best sellers list.
No Kamala without…”The Truths We Hold”?? [I had to Google it] which shot up to #1 the week Joe [Nancy] passed the torch over to her.
No, those with Presidential aspirations on the GOP side first meet with megadonors at some shadowy Elysian Fields retreat, then they toss out every single personal belief/conviction they've ever held and toe the party line like the good little peons they are to get funded. It's not cynical, it's expected at this point. If Kamala wins this fall, and 2028, Whitmer wouldn't be able to run until at least 2036. Maybe VP with Walz in 2032. Don't get too exited.I won't read it, but, curious as to some highlights. I think she is part of the Democrat's solid bench for future elections. Excited.
I mean I'm not sure what I'm getting too excited about. Obviously we have to win this election for democracy to live on but it's always good to have great options on your bench for whatever else happens instead. I see nothing wrong with being excited about having a good bench of Democrats of all different ages.If Kamala wins this fall, and 2028, Whitmer wouldn't be able to run until at least 2036. I think you just have to write a book now if you are running for office. It's a means to generate revenue and media attention, nothing else.

I have the audiobook on hold (OverDrive/Libby). Still about 2 months until I get it, and I have a huge backlog of books to get to. 😔I expected a long wait, but as I was walking out of the library with other books, there she was staring me in the face, so I nabbed it.
Just started. She had a few other Gretch nicknames as a kid but she promised to explain the Big Gretch one in a few chapters.
Good so far. I like her style so far.
I do a combination of physical and ebooks. Physical for reading on weekends, hoopla and Libby for the commute.
On second thought, scratch that long wait thing. I live in a Republican township! But there is a solid minority of us reasonable people too.
Why is that? It would take a lot to convince me to ever vote republican.I am not in favor of Gretchmer advancing. If the 'Pubs were to manage to find a reasonably sane candidate to run against her, I would have to consider going that way.
Seriously WTF. "I would rather eat a shit sandwich than support Gov Whitmer."Why is that? It would take a lot to convince me to ever vote republican.
How did she piss in your wheaties?I am not in favor of Gretchmer advancing. If the 'Pubs were to manage to find a reasonably sane candidate to run against her, I would have to consider going that way.
She can take a great picture and a really bad one. There's one out there with a turned up collar that looks mighty nice.never realized how attractive she was till the DNC. damn.
