A sunset shot yesterday from my back yard picturing the remnant cloud formations from Hurricane Hone (pronounced "Hoe"-"Neigh" in Hawaiian) as it passed south of the island chain after hitting the Big Island with heavy rains and whipping wind. I sure wish I had a 20 ft. ladder handy at that very moment. That visual lasted less than a minute and then it simply vanished. Mother Nature can be such a showoff every so often.

I went to the Peregrine Fund's Fall Flight raptor flying in Boise, ID. It was pretty cool. The setup isn't the best for birds-in-flight photography but was good for stills.

Lucy the turkey vulture has participated in every flight demo.

Ferruginous hawk attacking a fake rabbit.

The handlers have to bribe the hawk into letting go.

Shamrock, Texas. The historic Tower Station and U-Drop Inn Café was built in 1936 to serve travelers along Route 66. Used as a model for Ramone's Body Art in the movies Cars.

A few I took around Boston the other day as I was trying out my "new" R10, edited with Canon's DPP4 software (because I just can't justify paying monthly for Lightroom, and I'd have to play some DNG conversion games to use my current version [6.14] with this camera).

No USS Constitution pics???
I have one or two from when we walked by, but I wasn't too happy with the framing or the way it was lit - a lot of backlighting when we stopped by and I was still toying with the metering modes. I may try playing them later in DPP4 to see what can shake out.

I visited Boston in 1975 as a kid during the Bicentennial celebrations. I remember going on the USS Constitution. Trivia time. I have a piece of the USS Constitution from an overhaul/repair done in 1930. Every so often the ship is maintenanced/repaired. They use a specific type of tree to source the wood for the period. Cool stuff!
I was on the ship in 95 or 96 when I visited Boston, and I want to say again in the 2000s at some point (but I can't recall). I've certainly been been by it a few times in the last few years though living in the Boston area. Definitely a cool thing to see if you like these kinds of things.

I served in the US Navy and have respect for it's history.

Here's a snap from the top of Mt Graylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts at 3500 ft. Awesome place and can drive all the way up. Call it 3700 from atop the spire. It was a bit hazyView attachment 109151View attachment 109160
You should try the hike. A few summers ago, my wife and I started it, but gave up because the humidity was just brutal that day (and we ended up driving up instead later).

This weekend, I need to finish going through (and share) my photos from Mt Pemigewasset in NH - we hiked it last weekend, and the color of the leaves was awesome.

In our best days maybe, thats a tough hike. These days the trip from the parking lot is nearly enough, but the northeast has tons of resources we can get to.
