It also comes down to pricing. You might be willing to pay 30% premium for 20% extra performance. But not 20% for 5%.
Yeah man, Zen 5 sales bear that out. I see the discounted price, mitigations, and 5yr warranty have the 14900K breaking back into the top 10 on Amazon. AMD not having AM5 3D CPUs available at a competitive price is doing retailers with dust collecting raptor stock a solid.
I am probably giving Aussie Steve and the others too much credit anyways. If they had so much influence over DIYers, AM4 would not be dominating sales for new builds. While Zen 3 always sells great, it isn't just upgraders, 7 of the top 12 boards on Amazon are also AM4.
Oh come on, that is just silly rumor or idea. Its not like that whole FSR thing with Starfield. Now that was real and not a marketing campaign.
Sarcasm aside, I'd be surprised if any of them recommend raptorlake even heavily discounted. Well, maybe Jay.
I don't know bro; I can see a good argument for why they would. I have stated my reasons why I am boycotting Intel, but I shop with Amazon regularly. They make Intel look like saints. We all pick which battles to fight, and which dirtbag copros to spend our money with. $445 for the 14900K with a 5yr warranty and the slew of mitigations that have happened, is logical to recommend to Intel buyers, if 1851 is a one and done socket and does not provide a superior gaming experience. The flagship will be almost $600; no way is that going to compute to value v. $445.
There is nothing wrong with Raptor lake CPUs, except the high frequency out of the box. You can fix it in a few seconds in BIOS.
The cheaper Raptors are also a gret value for money. 14600KF are now being sold for very nice price and are flying off the shelves now.
People are not stupid and the want as much performance for as little money as possible.
The bold is an exaggeration. You can keep pushing your lower the frequency advice, but no one shopping for a build is going to do that. Your advice also contradicts your observation about people wanting the most bang for buck. I do agree with the observation though, that's why AM4 still dominates retail.
