I wonder whether you have tried to install Turin on h13ssl rev 1.01 (after updating to bios 3)?Well, its not version 2.0, so now I have to try and find one.
No Turin until further notice.
email from supermicro specifically says MUST be version 2.0 motherboard. Here:I wonder whether you have tried to install Turin on h13ssl rev 1.01 (after updating to bios 3)?
It seems that as long as the TDP is lower than 400w, the rev 1.01 board should work too?
I understand that this is the official response. But since you have a Turin 9005 processor and a rev 1.01 motherboard, maybe try installing it and see if it posts?email from supermicro specifically says MUST be version 2.0 motherboard. Here:
For AMD EPYC™ 9005 Series Processor support, please ensure your motherboard revision is R2.0 or higher. The BIOS and BMC package versions should be BIOS (V3.0 or higher) and BMC (V01.03.03 or higher). Please note that if you would like to roll back the BIOS from V3.x (AMD EPYC™ 9004/9005 Series Processor) dual BIOS to V1.x (AMD EPYC™ 9004 Series Processor) single BIOS, make sure to install AMD EPYC™ 9004 Series Processor before updating the BIOS. To support the AMD EPYC™ Bergamo/Genoa-X processor, please update to BIOS v1.4 or higher.
Also, nowhere on ebay can I find a version 2.0 (by the picture) and no google results have helped, and the gigabyte board mentions is not available anywhere I can find. So, I guess I am SOL until further notice.
If anybody has a solution, please post here !!!!!
I did.... and the latest 1.9 bios that was available before Turin release . It would not even power on the fans or load bios. like it was dead. Servers are different than retail motherboards. they have BMI software that loads, if all is well, then they let the CPU post. If the power from the PSU is on, you can access the BMI software. It loads using its own ethernet plug. It says nothing at all about the CPU.I understand that this is the official response. Thanks for trying! It makes sense because bios 1.9 did not have TurinPI-SP5_1.0.0.0_Patch_3 (in release note).I did.... and the latest 1.9 bios that was available before Turin release . So yes, I tried.
edit: to those who know servers better than me, I may be off a little. Feel free to correct me, just my experiences.
Just not going to try something that supermicro says won't work. I spent a day before trying stuff and got nowhere. This is a server CPU. Has to be right, WITH support from supermicro. Thanks for trying! It makes sense because bios 1.9 did not have TurinPI-SP5_1.0.0.0_Patch_3 (in release note).
But can we trouble you to try it with bios 3? Or you saying that one has to have revision 2 board to install bios 3?
was it motherboard version 1.01 ????Btw, I got a friend to try on H13SSL. He claims that with BIOS 3 and most-to-date BMC, he got the Epyc turin to light up.
Yes.
Well, not willing to risk it. I have a 2.0 ordered and guaranteed (supposedly) so I will wait. Since its from supermicro directly, lets hope its bios 3.0, and I can just boot it.Yes.
Sure. But didn't you already risk it with bios 1.9?Well, not willing to risk it. I have a 2.0 ordered and guaranteed (supposedly) so I will wait. Since its from supermicro directly, lets hope its bios 3.0, and I can just boot it.
From which retailer did you order?OK, I just ordered my motherboard and it will be drop shipped from supermicro with the correct version 2.0 to support Milan ! I still might have a system by 10/25 ! And its cheaper than newegg !
$650 including shipping !
Coming from supermicro, I wonder if it will come with bios 3.0 ? If it does, it will be a quick build !!
wired zone. Never heard of them till searching for h13ssl distributors or something like thatFrom which retailer did you order?
Counter offer: get the 8 RAM slot one from Newegg. Boot your Turin. Rejoice.fresh from supermicro "I think we have some incoming this week."
