Hi,

I am hoping someone can help with this problem, I ha e recently bought new Hard drive,

Hitachi (HGST) 500GB 2.5 Inch.

I am using a Alxum HDD adapter to try to Create a recovery drive. The problem I have is the new drive is not recognised by the disk creation software, as Shown below:

When I look at Device Manager it is recognised as show below

Can you help?

Does the drive's partition layout show up in Disk management (right-click on the Start menu, 'Disk Management')?

Is it disk 0 in that list?

If I had to guess, the software you're using is able to detect that the USB HDD is not a USB flash drive and is insisting that it has to be a USB flash drive. It's odd but not impossible.

Only thing I can think of is that your USB to HDD adapter is the issue. I was able to get both a USB external SSD (D drive) and a 500GB 2.5 inch drive (E and F) attached to a USB to SATA adapter to show up on Windows 10 Pro.

That's odd that the USB drive shows up as Disk 0 in disk management. Maybe that's why it doesn't show up in the recovery section? Do you have the drive connected during boot? If so try disconnecting it until Windows is already loaded.

What does Device manager show for your disk drive section? And is the USB drive still Disk 0 in disk management?

So the 500GB Hitachi doesn't show as up a disk drive? That's probably why it isn't in the recovery setup.

Is it also missing as a drive from "This PC" in Explorer? It only shows up under devices and printers?

What does your USB section look like in Device Manager? I noticed you have some PCI device that is missing drivers or something. Does that go away when you unplug the USB drive?
