WEIDER PRIME Testosterone Support: Placebo or for Real?

I was at COSTCO last week, and made some impulse-purchases -- particularly the one in the subject line.

For non-prescription offerings like Prevegen, my doctors seem inclined to judge it as a placebo and not worth the money.

I have yet to pose that question to them, but I've been taking 2x of these capsules daily. I sort of feel like spending less time on the couch, and more doing planned chores. Yesterday, I walked two miles, as opposed to my regular 1-mile daily walk. Both in its entirety, and especially for the last 2 / 3 mile, the walk was actually pleasant despite my COPD disability. Usually on these walks, I get between 0 and 2 Google-Fit app "Heart Credits". This is an assessment of one's weight, distance and elapsed time or "walk time". Day before yesterday, I scored 6 credits.

This issue about the effectiveness of the product needs more corroboration. I might just be imagining the "extra energy" from taking these pills, and my imagination could be causing me to spend "extra ducats" I could otherwise save.

Any firsthand or other "intel" about Weider Prime Testosterone Support?

It's essentially an expensive Ashwagandha supplement (the only noteworthy ingredient - sometimes touted for Testosterone boosting).

As a Testosterone booster, it's placebo, like most touted testosterone supplements.

Testosterone is feedback regulated, and pretty much none of these OTC boosters work, but companies can fund sketchy studies showing minor boosts (probably excluding the studies that showed none). Products that actually, reliably boost testosterone, tend to get regulated.

There are some indications that Ashwagandha has anti-stress/anxiety properties, and this seems to be the main selling point of these supplements.

NIH and WebMD are usually decent sources for supplement info, since they don't seem to try to push any supplement, and tend to focus on evidence over sensationalism. They don't even mention the sketchy Testosterone claims:





Uses & Effectiveness ?​

Possibly Effective for​

  • Anxiety. Taking ashwagandha by mouth might reduce anxiety.
  • A type of persistent anxiety marked by exaggerated worry and tension (generalized anxiety disorder or GAD). Taking ashwagandha by mouth seems to improve anxiety in people with persistent anxiety.
  • Insomnia. Taking ashwagandha by mouth seems to improve overall sleep and sleep quality in some people.
  • Stress. Taking ashwagandha by mouth seems to help reduce stress in some people. It might also help reduce stress-related weight gain.
There is interest in using ashwagandha for a number of other purposes, but there isn't enough reliable information to say whether it might be helpful.

I guess I'll just finish the bottle, which should last 2 months. I've been popping 2 daily since Monday. I "imagine" I have more energy, for instance from my morning walk experience. I'll just wait and see, then determine whether I want to continue paying for it. It was either yesterday or the day before that I walked two miles and the second half of the walk seemed easy . . . In fact, a bit unusual -- Google Fit cellphone app gave me 6 heart credits. And -- I'm getting more chores done today. In fact, I've done enough. I'll suck on half a cannabis gummi and watch TV after I fix a screwdriver for myself. Plenty of OJ cold in the fridge and enough Vodka. .

If you are benefiting, even mostly from placebo, then why not?

If you decide you want more after running out, I would just look for cheaper generic Ashwagandha.
