Times have really changed. Back in the day it was not uncommon to run into bosses that were psychopaths. I think after running into you, that guy probably thought twice before acting like that. I also had a crazy manager once at one job. He acted like he was guzzling caffeine or taking meth.
These days are quite different. People are so afraid of offending people or they are stupid and lazy and barely competent. They are way too distracted watching videos and dont really care about their jobs. And this is if you can actually find people to work. Lots of people want to be paid to sit around and do nothing. They never get promoted or do anything to earn a promotion.
I'd rather have that than a mass shooting due to a workplace disagreement. Looking at phones is basically copium from a shitty reality of a dead end jobs and we severely underestimate mental health.
FFS we don't even give people paid vacations.. and in Europe you get 2 months off!
Think one of my neighbors was telling me even the Army/ Navy/ Airforce in India understands mental stress and requires 2 months paid holiday taken every year. I'm not sure how much paid leave the US armed forces get but I'm thinking it's not more than 4 weeks.
If those poor countries and rich countries can understand mental health.. why can't we?
